I'm not sure. When women chant "Woman Power" - is that Sexism?
When a group that has and is still being victimized comes together to call for for justice - how are they supposed to express solidarity? "Please don't hurt me any more!" That's not exactly a very strong rallying cry.
If people in Boston chant "Red Sox" - does that make them anti-Yankee (Well, maybe that!)

So, on consideration, I DON'T think chanting "Black Power" is racist in the same way that a bunch of cracker brained white hooded idiots chanting "White Power" would be. Everything needs to be considered in context.

Living in a "white" world??? No. But when is the last time you heard blacks chanting that? Nowadays they are chanting "economic power". But, then, again, you range from "dumber than dirt" to "absolutely clueless".

Bullshit. I reject that. Sure haveing the financial recources to be able to fight the charges plaid a significant role in his aquital. The reality though is OJ got off because there were no witnesses to the crime and all the prosecution had was a motive and circumstantial forensic evidence which they completely botched handling thus introducing a large measure of reasonable doubt, which is why he was aquited.

They don't. It's silly to maintain that trolls on youtube are somehow representative of society. They have gotten exactly what they wanted from everybody who happens to be getting all bent that some idiots trolled an ad on youtube...

I think that had I been on the jury, Mark Fuhrman alone would have had to have been cause for reasonable doubt...even though it would have killed me because I believe he killed his wife. And I believed that then even before he wrote that horrible book "If I did It" or whatever. Talk about being split in half. But that guy was a stone cold racist and if I remember correctly it really began to look like he had planted evidence. The whole thing was a travesty, all around.

Oh bs, plenty of white dudes do not like the idea of a white woman having sex with a black man. Our age and older. The younger generations, no that's changed, thankfully.

Going back to the start of this thread: A nice Cheerios advertisement whose only discernible difference from other Cheerios commercials is that it depicts an interracial family was forced to disable its YouTube comments section today after it became inundated with virulent racism.

So, what's the topic anyway?
1. The idiots that flooded YouTube with complaints? Then Damocles makes a good point.
2. That this ad stood out for showing a multiracial family? That is what I was responding to, being in favor of multiracial families AND ads showing this reality. And I could care less about whatever went on with YouTube.

It's silly to suggest that racists don't have a problem with black men and white women .. and racists are who I'm talking about.
 
It's funny OJ came up, because something happened last week that made me feel so effing old! I go to my main networking group with another sales guy here. I ended up bringing him into the group when there was a opening so he could sell one of our services and I the other. He's the one with the Thor like built and he's blond. So this woman Ann makes this crack to me - oh I saw you and your Kato headed to ruth's chris after the meeting. And I just looked at her, like, holy shit. WTF does that mean?

So then I tell him about it the next day, and guess what?

Yes that's right, he had no clue who Kato Kaelin was! Do you believe this? He is ten years younger than me, and that just made me feel soooo old. I had to explain who Kato is.

Reminds me of a book I read once - sci fi - everyone had gotten so mixed that they ended up creating a few kids of "pure race" and raising them in an engineered environment so they could get some diversity....

Pretty much. There was a lot of gross incompetence on how the case was managed. From the coroners office (I would have fired Dennis Fungs ass) to the LAPD investigators violating proper chain of custody of evidence, to the DA's office prosecution of the case. Regardless of what you may have felt about OJ personally the only objective conclusion that could be reached was that reasonable doubt did exist and therefore the jury was required to find a verdict of "not guilty".

It's not just black men and white women. More than once I've had some redneck racist refer to my Filipina wife as a "mail order bride" or a "bar girl". I've also seen a lot of soft racism towards my wife. I don't know how many times I've seen white women, even from my own family, who are far less educated than my wife (who has a BA in Business) talk to her in the most condescending tones.

A great example of that comes from my own family. My niece from Guam (who's parents are both Filipinos but she was born in Guam making her a US citizen) moved into our home to start college here in the US. When I introduced her to my sister, my sister said in the most condescending tones "My your English is so good!". I was soooo embarrased but my niece handled it great. She said "Thanks! Yours isn't too bad either!".

I, respectfully, disagree, for the reasons I previously stated. Jury nullification was expected, and essentially demonstrated.
