Newtown - the case for seeing the photos

Altering quotes is a board violation. Your melting...your melting...

Another BFGRN lie. Cite the rule I violated.

And I believe it is a very rational debate to question why any citizen needs the rate of fire and ammo capacity of a military grade weapon designed for warfare to protect their home.
Tell me why you need the freedom to worship as you please, or not have troops quarted in your home, or have a trial by jury? People have had to deal with these things for thousands of years and yet they still prevail, so obviously they don't 'need' such protections either.

You can teach a child how to swim. You can't teach them how to survive a bullet to their brain.
Yes, those taught to swim never drown.

Lawn darts (metal) were banned after three children died.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawn_darts#Safety_and_bans
on December 19, 1988, the CPSC reinstated the outright ban on lawn darts.[2] In the previous eight years, 6,100 people had been sent to the emergency room due to lawn darts. Out of that total, 81 percent were 15 or younger, and half of them were 10 or younger. On the week the commission voted to ban the product, an 11-year-old girl in Tennessee was hit by a lawn dart and sent into a coma

How many kids die from guns?

And most of us aren't talking about banning guns. Just putting more controls on them.

Go find 'em sherlock.

I did not say on this board you moron. I said in public. I think you are a lying little douche bag sexist pig. You are antiquated and your pretending to sit on a moral high horse is comical given the sludge you dwell in. We know you for who you really are. We know what you have done in the past. You can pretend all you want, but you yet again have revealed just how big a piece of shit you are.

I'm kind of new here and maybe I don't understand your mutual admiration society and I know it's hard to ignore insults and idiocy. I'm can be as guilty as anyone.

But it seems to me that after a few pages of back and forth SOMEONE would at least touch on the thread.
As a reminder >>> : Newtown - the case for seeing the photos.

So... a serious question. If I wanted to sort of edge back in that direction, what do you "old pros" suggest? (Be nice now.) Start a new thread entirely?

Lol... yeah, we can sometimes derail a thread. Just start talking about it again... others will likely follow suit if there is more that should be discussed on the issue.

I believe it is a very rational debate to ask why all law abiding citizens wouldn't expect anyone who buys a lethal weapon have to pass a background check. And I believe it is a very rational debate to question why any citizen needs the rate of fire and ammo capacity of a military grade weapon designed for warfare to protect their home.

You can teach a child how to swim. You can't teach them how to survive a bullet to their brain.

But you can teach them gun safety. Just as you can teach them safety around a pool.

Your analogy above is a failure. To be correct you would have had to say 'you can't teach them to survive drowning and you can't teach them to survive a bullet to the brain'.

You can teach them safety for both situations. If they ignore you in either, they can die.

Just ignore the "I know you are but what am I" crowd. Comment directly to the thread and some of us will engage with you.

I have about 20 lawn darts. No one is going to come search my home or imprison me for having them unless I commit an crime with them. But if I had, say, an unregistered machine gun....well that'd be a much different story.

Why would you let your children play with lawn darts?

You see, when I was just a wee babe in the arms of my mam, she used to tell me stories of the old countries, and how she and her fellow villagers would send iron darts down upon the heads of the govt tax collectors and how they kept points based on the numbers killed vs injured vs missed and that's how they developed not just lawn darts but actually regular darts and the entire village went on to fame and fortune, leaving a soft place in our hearts and heads for lawn darts.

ok, that wasn't true. Then again, I don't have children. Or at least that's what I'm saying now. So really, who knows what I would do with hypothetical children who I may or may not have? and whether what I would have let them do in the 70s would be different from what I let them do now (assuming they hadn't aged a day in nor gained any more experience so this hypothetical is getting very stretched). And would I put pics of them on Facebook throwing the lawn darts thus daring the govt agencies to come invade my house to confiscate the darts but in reality we'll be lying in wait to target them with those same darts?

I think I'll go back to my wee babe story...or at least back to the bottle....

So in other words three kids died because of irresponsible parents. I suppose you'd be on board with my parental license/testing idea?

But we can't because the SCOTS has determined that parenting is fundamental liberty interest and states can only interfere with that for very limited reasons, and they must be compelling (legal terminology).

yeah...sigh. darn it. Some days I'm more willing to infringe on rights than others... but must be good. Must just focus on limitations around the 2nd amendment (grin)
