There is that and then there is the "Stand Your Ground" law issue which gun nuts made such a big issue over. What happened to that? Why did Zimmerman decide not to go before a magistrate and claim exemption under Florida's Stand your ground statute?I'm really tired of seeing this repetitive trial appearing on TV for close to a year now, ENOUGH.
Put him in JAIL already.
I swear, if Trayvon wasn't black, the media would never give this case so much attention.
Aint that the sad, sad truth! That's the most cogent observations I've heard about this entire sad case.If trevon weren't Black
He would have eaten the skittles
Looks like zimmys been eating plenty of skittles. Packed on a few lbs in jail I see!!If trevon weren't Black
He would have eaten the skittles

Right on bac
Far too few of us whites are outraged
Too many are NRAZI and klanish
Hating on a brother for being a brother
I agree with all that .. but there is also a deeper significance that not everyone can see.
It's a demonstration that nothing has changed. Nothing has changed in America with regards to race .. regardless of the symbolism of a black president .. because that's all a black president is, just symbolism.
My children and grand children face the exact same dangers from police and 'authority figures' that I did growing up in the sixties. The exact same dangers. Nothing has changed.
I can't watch the trial because I can't handle with watching Martin's parents. I've seen that pain and anguish that I see on their faces too many times before.
The ONLY reason Zimmerman is on trial is because he didn't have a badge. Had he a badge, it's open season on young brothers like Trayvon Martin walking to the store to buy a bag of skittles.
Trayvon Martin ,, Emmitt Till .. nothing has changed in this so-called land of the free.
Whether Zimmerman goes to jail or not, nothing will change.
This makes my heart heavy.
I'm sorry .. I really don't mean to.
I spoke to Emmitt Till's mother, Mamie Till, about 3 weeks died. I interviewed her for a local talk radio show here in Atlanta. I was blessed to have that opportunity. Most people don't know that it was Mamie Till, not Rosa Parks who was the inspiration for the civil rights movement. Rosa Parks was hand-picked for her role, Mamie Till was not, and it cost the life of her only child.
Her refusal to close the casket of her son .. even under the threat of death .. sparked national and international outrage about her son's murder.
"I want the world to see what they did to my baby"

What they did to her son was so gruesome, I won't even post it here to expose you to that horror.
Because of the courage of Mamie Till and the horror of the murder of her son, a southern black minister from Atlanta, along with many others, began to organize and plot the steps that became the Montgomery Bus Boycott .. that became the Civil Rights Movement.

I don't say this to you to sadden you my friend .. I just want you to know where I'm coming from.
It still makes me sad, the injustice and horrors humans do to each other, especially from a position of power.
It does remind me of the work there is to be done.
I truly admire this women and her courage to stand up to those who would oppress her for something she had no control over.
Thanks for the reminder![]()

What a moving post bac, I cried reading it. We need to be reminded.
Consider this brother .. it took 364 years for blacks to get civil/basic human rights in this country. 364 fucking years of terrorism.
As I grew up and learned of our history, my question was always, where were the good white people? How could they allow this to happen?
I'm living the answer to that question. It's because they don't really care. It's not them, it's not their sons and daughters being killed.

And some have the unmitigated gall to suggest that they had nothing to do with that, and so, shouldn't be held accountable. The Germans who turned a blind eye are just as culpable as Hitler or any of his SS, in the Holocaust. What don't they get about that?
