The Zimmerman Trial

I'm really tired of seeing this repetitive trial appearing on TV for close to a year now, ENOUGH.
Put him in JAIL already.
I swear, if Trayvon wasn't black, the media would never give this case so much attention.

There is that and then there is the "Stand Your Ground" law issue which gun nuts made such a big issue over. What happened to that? Why did Zimmerman decide not to go before a magistrate and claim exemption under Florida's Stand your ground statute?

I agree with all that .. but there is also a deeper significance that not everyone can see.

It's a demonstration that nothing has changed. Nothing has changed in America with regards to race .. regardless of the symbolism of a black president .. because that's all a black president is, just symbolism.

My children and grand children face the exact same dangers from police and 'authority figures' that I did growing up in the sixties. The exact same dangers. Nothing has changed.

I can't watch the trial because I can't handle with watching Martin's parents. I've seen that pain and anguish that I see on their faces too many times before.

The ONLY reason Zimmerman is on trial is because he didn't have a badge. Had he a badge, it's open season on young brothers like Trayvon Martin walking to the store to buy a bag of skittles.

Trayvon Martin ,, Emmitt Till .. nothing has changed in this so-called land of the free.

Whether Zimmerman goes to jail or not, nothing will change.

Right on bac
Far too few of us whites are outraged
Too many are NRAZI and klanish
Hating on a brother for being a brother

Consider this brother .. it took 364 years for blacks to get civil/basic human rights in this country. 364 fucking years of terrorism.

As I grew up and learned of our history, my question was always, where were the good white people? How could they allow this to happen?

I'm living the answer to that question. It's because they don't really care. It's not them, it's not their sons and daughters being killed.

This makes my heart heavy.

This makes my heart heavy.

I'm sorry .. I really don't mean to.

I spoke to Emmitt Till's mother, Mamie Till, about 3 weeks died. I interviewed her for a local talk radio show here in Atlanta. I was blessed to have that opportunity. Most people don't know that it was Mamie Till, not Rosa Parks who was the inspiration for the civil rights movement. Rosa Parks was hand-picked for her role, Mamie Till was not, and it cost the life of her only child.

Her refusal to close the casket of her son .. even under the threat of death .. sparked national and international outrage about her son's murder.

"I want the world to see what they did to my baby"

What they did to her son was so gruesome, I won't even post it here to expose you to that horror.

Because of the courage of Mamie Till and the horror of the murder of her son, a southern black minister from Atlanta, along with many others, began to organize and plot the steps that became the Montgomery Bus Boycott .. that became the Civil Rights Movement.

I don't say this to you to sadden you my friend .. I just want you to know where I'm coming from.

It still makes me sad, the injustice and horrors humans do to each other, especially from a position of power.

It does remind me of the work there is to be done.

I truly admire this women and her courage to stand up to those who would oppress her for something she had no control over.

Thanks for the reminder :)

Through the sadness, that brings a smile to my face.

Thank you. :0)

What a moving post bac, I cried reading it. We need to be reminded.

And some have the unmitigated gall to suggest that they had nothing to do with that, and so, shouldn't be held accountable. The Germans who turned a blind eye are just as culpable as Hitler or any of his SS, in the Holocaust. What don't they get about that?

[h=1]MSNBC Panel Concedes Prosecution’s Case Is Weak, ‘Little Hope’ Zimmerman Will Be Convicted[/h]During MSNBC’s Martin Bashir on Tuesday, the entire panel of contributors and guests conceded that the prosecution has done a poor job of framing George Zimmerman as being guilty of second degree murder when he shot and killed Tryavon Martin in 2012. One guest noted that, given the weakness of the evidence presented against Zimmerman thus far, the state would likely be wrapping up the prosecution phase soon.

John Jay College forensics professor Lawrence Kobilinsky told Joy-Ann Reid that the evidence thus far presented against Zimmerman is insufficient to prove second degree murder.

“What I’m hearing is the state’s case is getting weaker and weaker as every day goes by,” he said. “I think they’re going to be wrapping up pretty soon.”

“I have to agree with the people who spoke before me,” said MSNBC contributor Goldie Taylor after dismissing the prosecution’s effort to frame Zimmerman as delusional. “Even though I’ve got some problems with George Zimmerman’s testimony – even though I have a problem with how it seems to not jive with the physical evidence we’ve heard so far — that I think the prosecution has got to put on a much stronger case.”

Georgetown University Professor Michael Eric Dyson agreed. “I don’t think there is much expectation that Mr. Zimmerman will be found guilty,” he said. “I think that there are mass people invested in this case because their children are vulnerable like Trayvon Martin feel that he is being re-traumatized and that there is little hope he will be convicted.”

You know its bad when MSNBC throws in the towel....

What a truly offensive post. Where are the good white people? You have the nerve to ask that question? You don't think white people put their lives on the line trying to free slaves? You don't think white people put their lives on the line trying to save blacks from the democrat led KKK? You don't think whites put their lives on the line in the 1960s?

You know what people are sick and tired of? This. This kind of bullshit with people like you and Poet running around with massive chips on your shoulders playing victims. To claim that the lives of blacks have not improved since the days of slavery is just an utter lie. You and Poet obviously can't see it because you don't want to see it. And why would you when willing fools like the left wingers on this board feed into your victimology.

You are crippled and you don't even know it. You cripple other blacks feeding them resentment and sorrow making them think that no matter what they do they will never get ahead. Don't get me wrong. I don't deny that racism exists. It most assuredly does. But to claim that progress has not been made and that we are still living in the 1960s is not only offensive, but an out and out lie.

I feel sorry for the bitterness that you carry.

Get over yourself

I'm going to say straight up and to hell with everyone.

Zimmerman is a wannabe cop who thinks he's a tough guy. He was turned down three times to be on the police force. He has a history of violence, against a former girlfriend ( I know that's silly, excuse me for bringing it up, I lost my senses and thought a woman was a person for a sec), and even against a real person, a male cop. He's the big, tough guy. Of course any man who hits a woman isn't tough, and we saw that play out on the night he murdered Martin.

Tough guy got out of his car, he was going to make sure this punk didn't get away with it, because as he stated on the 911 call, "they" always get away with it. Tough guy followed Martin. Exactly what happened next is irrelevant. Did Zimmerman stalk him until he caught up with him (based on all of his other actions I believe so), or did Martin, knowing he was being followed, finally turn and confront his predator? Doesn't matter. What happened next is tough guy pissed his pants because like every other wannabe tough guy who beats women and desperately tries to get on any police force he can, he's a big coward.

Tough guy started crying, pissed his pants, and shot a 17 yo boy at point blank range because tough guy wrote a check he couldn't cash. A man could have handled a physical confrontation. A sniveling, woman beating, human piece of excrement can't. So he executed a 17 yo boy who was trying to go home to eat some fucking skittles.

If he had a badge, if one of those 3 depts he tried to get into had accepted him, he would have been one of STY's "We Live in a Facist state where cops can murder at will" posts.

I believe that mostly due to Florida law, he will either be acquitted or there will be a hung jury. I actually think a hung jury is likely.

I pray that someone puts a bullet in his head and dumps his worthless carcass in a florida swamp and i never have to look at his face again. You know what that is? Fucking Justice.

Bottom line will always be he had no business getting out of his car, and a real man can handle a freaking scuffle, but big crybaby pissy panted cowards can't. And that's what this guy is, and anyone who defends him? Cowards. Who know deep down they too can't handle a physical confrontation like a freaking MAN, and would piss their pants in terror.

That is all.

Have a great day!
