You don't get it. I'm not trying to get "anywhere with anyone" who takes the position that you do.

In fact, in retrospect, I've been much too open to accommodation.

In future when discussing politics with republicans, I will keep in mind that these are the people that would celebrate the racist murders of my children .. and would look for any and every excuse to justify it.

What the Hell was I thinking?

Her deposition was taken in front of Martins parents...she sat right beside Martins mother while she was questioned....unethical to say the least....

Changes in her story exposed on the witness stand....and just trying to create a story of events from a phone call is not proof of anything except

in what is said....she had no possible way of knowing what was occurring....hearing noises is not seeing....its assumption and conjecture, guessing, etc.

One eye-witness statement given the night of the shooting describes "a black male, wearing a dark colored 'hoodie' on top of a white or Hispanic male who was yelling for help." The witness said that the black male was throwing punches "MMA [mixed martial arts] style." After hearing a "pop," he saw the black male "laid out on the grass." When the witness was subsequently interviewed weeks later by a different agency, the witness said he thought that the black male was either punching or pinning the lighter skinned male underneath him. He was no longer certain who was calling for help, having not seen their mouths in the dark. He was still certain that the black male had been on top of the lighter-skinned male

I agree that GZ probably wouldn't have followed Trayvon if he was white - but the comparison basically ends there. To me, the evidence shows that he didn't set out to kill a man that day, and that there was no premeditation to that effect. Whereas the jury in the Till trial ignored the evidence in a racial manner, the jury in the GZ case didn't see enough evidence for even a manslaughter charge - because there really wasn't enough evidence. Too many conflicting testimonies, too much ambiguity. Wanting to believe that GZ was guilty just isn't enough.

If you can't see the vast difference between these 2 cases, I can't really do much for you.

The jury found him not guilty, not the evidence or lack thereof. Too much presumption on your part, too little reliance upon reason.
If you can't see the difference between your presumptions and your lack of critical thinking, I really can't do much for you.

The country is a depressing place the last couple days.

You may not be a racist, yet you accommodate them and act as an accessory to them with your comments in this thread.

That this could happen in 2013 is the main cause of depression.

That an otherwise reasonable man can not see this is very depressing too though.

I'm so pleased to see that I "may not be a racist" for not walking in lockstep w/ the groupthink on this issue.

I can't tell you how much that pleases me.
