Both were members (prominent ones) of the Segregation Party...the Democrats, the party of slavery for Blacks.

Civil war, granuloma. Not invasion, not outside enemy, just brother against brother and three-quarters of a million people dead for NOTHING.

One of the reasons cons bleated for supporting the Iraq war was that Saddam killed his own people and deserved to be eliminated. Yet you guys will twist that so-called logic when it comes to honoring traitors and erecting statues of murderous Confederates and putting pictures of murderous Yankees on the currency.

How many died in Andersonville? How many died in Sherman's march to the sea? How about Manassas Creek running red? Gettysburg?

The needle on your hypocrisy meter is broken from the weight of all that deceit.

This particular thread applies to Forrest but I don't care if it's Forrest, Meade, Sherman, Lee or any of the others. These people were responsible for the worst slaughter of Americans in the country's history. 620,000 good Americans died in a civil war, not an enemy attack. Brother v. brother, family v. family. Why can't you acknowledge the horror of this?

You can push out reams of material about NBF but you've completely missed the point. These people only deserve to be footnotes in history, not honored with buildings, statues or their picture on our currency.

It would be a refreshing change to see some of you honor more peacemakers and fewer warmongers, but my cynicism says that's not likely.

Who used them both to achieve great things. He also kept his troops safer from harm than all of the other major American generals (except perhaps the buffoon McClellan, although Antietam was the bloodiest battle of the war).
