so... Higgins WAS serving in harm's way when he was murdered in Beirut?
Why didn't you just say so?
And... for the record, Higgins was serving as Senior US Military Observer, US Military Observation Group, United Nations Truce Supervision Organization when he was kidnapped right outside the town of Tyre in 1988.
Definitely in harm's way....
I'm glad you agree.
Having said that, I served with the US Military Observation Group in Lebanon from January 1981 until July 1982. I served in Observer Group Lebanon and was the team leader of the Crisis Mediation Team in Tyre... and I was the senior US representative on the Israeli-Lebanese Mixed Armistice Commission in Beirut. I was kidnapped and shot at and routinely went into the midst of fire fights with the express purpose of getting the combatants to stop shooting at one another.... so I guess you'd have to say that Higgins and I had very similar tours spent in harm's way.....
so... you don't know shit from fat meat about what being in those situations are all about, yet you gleefully call for more Americans to be sent over to do work that you, yourself, were, apparently, too frightened to do yourself.

let me get this straight. I said I served with the UN in Lebanon and you are calling me a liar? Is that correct? You are saying that I made the details in my last post up and that they are fictional?
Is that or is that not correct?
Sure you did.

Sure I did! that's what UN Military Observers do all the time.
And I'm sure you've read lots of stories about them and wished you were one.
Is that what you said dumbass? I could have sworn there was a LOT more to your story than that. Try again you repugnant dishonest dumbass.
there were times when I wished I wasn't.
Again.... if you want to say that I am making shit up, then everyone is making shit up and nobody can be trusted to tell anything about their lives as it relates to the topics here.... if everything ever writes is assumed to be fiction, why do you bother reading anything here? Why not just go get a good book?
The Multinational Force in Lebanon (also MNF) was an international peacekeeping force created in 1982, after the demand was made by Lebanon to the UN's secretary general, and initially to oversee the withdrawal of the Palestine Liberation Organization. The participants included contingents of United States Marines and Navy SEALs, units of the French 11th Parachute Brigade, the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment, the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment, the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment, other units of the French Foreign Legion,[1] Italian soldiers, and British soldiers. The force was dissolved in March 1984, soon after the October 1983 Beirut barracks bombing.
I guess the Commander is trying to claim he is a Navy Seal now.![]()
Are you suggesting that I made up any details about my service with the UN? Are you calling me a liar or not?
don't tap dance... either call it that way or don't... but don't waffle.
