MAGA MAN
Let's go Brandon!
Mechanics are scientists to some degree, yes. Why do you feel the need to denigrate them? The problems that they solve are similar to mine; one main difference is the overall value of the product or structure that is not performing according to expectations. Another is the depth of knowledge required to understand the basic principles at work that are causing the problem. Then every lawn mower mechanic is a scientist as well. My mother was an actual scientist, you devalue her by your claim.
For example, on a recent project that turned into a lawsuit spanning nearly 7 years, I was tasked with determining the cause of structural stress in a development involving over 100 homes. Nearly 10% showed some kind of related issues, for a total potential damage value of $3.5 million. The value of the remaining 90 homes was also at risk due to the perception problem. Total value at risk was possibly over $15 million.
I made observations from what I could see at the surface, interviewed the contractors involved, taking their word as to what they had done, and developed a theory as to the problem. My theory turned out to be incorrect, so the grading contractor said 'ah ha! you don't know shit!' That caused me to focus in and re-examine his testimony; was it a lie?
So I developed an alternate theory and did expensive underground testing to gather more evidence. This showed that indeed, the contractor had lied, and my second theory now had great credence with a potential jury. The grading contractor finally settled and my client was made whole.
