depends when nobody in the world could compete because they were all living in squalor and recovering from ww2 then free trade all the way baby. Now that they are competetive and in most cases beating us the n protectionism.

Nationalists do whats best for the country whether the idea comes from the left or the right.

I love free trade, but it has to be fair. For instance we buy stuff from China manufactured in factories that are dangerous, polluting sweatshops outlawed here generations ago. And they violate US patents all the time.

That, and we tax our corporations so much that we force them overseas.

Between these two issues we've lost a lot of economic benefit. It's made America financially, and that weakness has emboldened our enemies.

I'm 100% with you on the tax code part.

But in the idea of fair trade we can't force countries to following our environmental laws. Especially developing ones.

We don't have to force them to do anything. What I'm saying is that we should choose not to do business with people with environmental and human rights policies that we find abhorrent. Not just because of those issues, but because it creates an unfair competition for US business.

Where are our tree-hugging, hand-wringing libtards on this issue?

The reality is we wouldn't do business with any developing nation then because none will have the same environmental standards we do. We clearly didn't have the environmental standards we do today as we were growing as a nation.

I use the Nike example where there's no way they are going to pay $20/hr plus benefits to someone in the U.S. to make their shoes when someone can do it overseas for almost nothing and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I understand your point but considering there are tree huggers that find our environmental standards abhorrent I can only imagine what it would be like to get a national consensus for considering developing countries having abhorrent standards.

Tree huggers as you mentioned probably represent 10% of the population. Regardless, trade policy isn't set by national consensus, but by our elected representatives. Either Congress is going to consider trade based on principles or not.

Yes there is a way to answer it because you're supposed to be a republican and anybody else you vote for is helping Hillary to win.

That is the only realistic option that's available for you never Trumpers.
 
If the never Trumpers ambush Trump at their convention and insert one of their stiff suits to run instead, the GOP will have a major revolt on their hands from we the people.

We the people put Trump in this position to get the nomination, not the GOP stiff suit losers.

As a Republican I cannot support a Democrat. Trump gave an economic speech yesterday quoting Bernie Sanders and EPI which is the AFL-CIO's think tank. Trump putting a R next to his name doesn't change who he is. He's a Democrat. It's really no different than Michael Bloomberg becoming a Republican to run for Mayor of NYC. The man was never a Republican.

he is republican in some parts. Mainly because nationalists get stuff from the right and the left as long as it works. Like minimum wage.
