From 7% to 10% and you're all getting hysterical about it ?

Thats like getting crazy because we have a storm in January and then another in June and claiming its amazing that storms have doubled in the just half a year....

You don't have proof of the first claim. You just "think" you know because it is what you want to believe with your whole heart.

You also have this childlike belief that despite hundreds of years of research that someone is going to suddenly overcome the limitations of physics and make wind and solar "sustainable". I guess you think that Bill Nye the Science Guy is going to overcome lack of windy days? Or cloud cover? Or somehow make the energy easily transportable?

Well, TECHNICALLY oil is "renewable".

All IHA has to do is come up with a viable alternative fuel source to supply our needs for the TENS OF MILLIONS OF YEARS it will take to "renew" our supplies of oil.

This is where the rubber meets the road with alternatives. If the subsidies are removed, will people pay extra for their energy? That is where one will find out how serious people are about this or not. The pocketbook. That being said, why does alternative energy cost more? There is not reason it should. Less maintenance, no fuel costs, no pollution regulations to adhere too, etc. Nowhere near the cost to operate a conventional power plant. So why the electricity cost more? That is what people need to be asking their politicians. And demanding some changes.

Already it is cheaper to install solar and batteries if one needs even one power pole because of a long driveway.

we can take a look after we balance the budget.....I would probably prefer energy subsidies over bolstering California's pension deficits........

I am calling total bullshit on that article.
The majority of charging will always be done at night, especially during the wee hours when most gen plants are idle.
If anything a vast increase in EVs will enable plants to run around the clock with a much more balanced load.
Furthermore each EV makes the grid smarter, acting as capacitors. Hybrids can also generate electricity providing additional buffering.
Finaly the premise of "all" vehicles becoming electric is implausible.
Such will never be the case.
