Trump: U.S. military won’t allow transgender people ‘to serve in any capacity’

Especially as the cost is so trivial in comparison to the 700 billion annual dod budget.

Weird that Trump a draft dodger and adulterer who cheats on taxes, his wives, and his country is a shining star for the so called religious ? Proves only how shallow and empty of empathy and Christian compassion the American conservative is. Sad humans who live their lives hating the other because they are different.

Some 2,000 to 11,000 active-duty troops are transgender, according to a 2016 RAND Corporation study commissioned by the Pentagon, though estimates of the number of transgender service members have varied widely, and are sometimes as high as 15,000.

The study found that allowing transgender people to serve openly in the military would “have minimal impact on readiness and health care costs” for the Pentagon. It estimated that health care costs would rise $2.4 million to $8.4 million a year, representing an infinitesimal 0.04 to 0.13 percent increase in spending. Citing research into other countries that allow transgender people to serve, the study projected “little or no impact on unit cohesion, operational effectiveness or readiness” in the United States.

Lt. Commander Blake Dremann, a Navy supply corps officer who is transgender, said he found out his job was in danger when he turned on CNN on Wednesday morning. Commander Dremann came out as transgender to his commanders in 2015, and said they had been supportive of him.

He refused to criticize Mr. Trump — “we don’t criticize our commander in chief,” he said — but said the policy shift “is singling out a specific population in the military, who had been assured we were doing everything appropriate to continue our honorable service.”

there are fewer of them now because they havent been openly allowed in in the past. Why would you wait until they become a bigger chunk of the population before you act?

Again theres a difference between gay and going thru the whole surgery/hormone procedure to be transgender.

Is it not discrimination to block those with diabetes and spinal surgery and other invasive surgeries and allow transgenders?

Square-bashing in the RAF, which is, I believe, typical of certain aspects of militarism, was a safe reserve for aggressive Spartan-type, SA-descended homosexuals serving as corporals. They have normally made good troops through history, though not to my (hetero) taste! :)
 
Yep; in idiot liberal land, the military is a "job corps" and not a place where you could lay down your life for your country and/or your fellow soldier. Dunce.

you mean apart from the fact they have to be insane to transition, $350,000, and that they wouldn't be able to perform the duties they are hired to perform during the hormone therapy?.......

There is no "transition" into becoming a member of the opposite sex. It's a cosmetic procedure in order to appear different. No DNA is changed. That's all. You can fix up a house to look the way you want with new floors, roof, plumbing, wiring and change the paint color...it's still a house. If you plant apple seeds, you get apple trees...spraying orange paint all over the apples won't make them an orange grove, it's still an apple orchard.

This is not about homosexuals, lesbians or bi-sexuals. This is about mentally ill persons who have deluded themselves into thinking they can actually scientifically change their DNA and become a member of the opposite sex by rearranging their hormones and body parts. They are living in severe denial. It's like Dr. Frankenstein on steroids.

You seem to be arguing that people would join the military just to get the surgery.
