Lakewood Church has issued a statement regarding its response to Hurricane Harvey after being roundly accused on social media of refusing to open its doors to Hurricane Harvey evacuees.

"We have never closed our doors," Senior Pastor Joel Osteen said in a statement quoted by ABC and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We will continue to be a distribution center to those in need. We are prepared to house people once shelters reach capacity. Lakewood will be a value to the community in the aftermath of this storm."

He became one of the "feel good ministers" of mega churches. He is lukewarm (and we know what God said about the lukewarm church in Revelation), does not preach the full Gospel message. Megabucks roll in and he's enjoying that. There are others like him out there with more coming in the very near future. These types of "churches" are known as seeker-friendly. They are far from the way the Apostles spoke and taught the Word.
Is it good that he is lending a hand of help during this crisis? Yes. There are also atheists, mosques and synagogues helping. This is good yet shouldn't be confused with salvation. Salvation is not obtained by our works. Salvation is of the Lord alone. Only God knows our hearts. Final judgment will be in his hands.
