'Please don't kill me': Cop cleared of murder after shooting dead a sobbing father

don't make dumb moves when you have a gun pointed at you.

Natural selection.

as to the legal matters, if you have a reasonable suspicion, (being on call that a dumbass was firing a pallet gun out the window), and he reaches for his waistband, it's time to POP HIM AND DROP HIM

I was a juror on a case similar to this back in 1987 in Miami.
48 year old man (African American) owned a used car lot in Liberty City.
20 year old man (also African American) drives into the lot, screaming and demanding money from the owner.
Owner tells him to get off his property while holding a gun pointed at him.
Guy (empty handed) keeps coming at him, flailing his arms and hands, cursing at him, telling him he's going to kill him.
Guy at one point flails his arm around behind his back.
Owner fires once, killing him.
Owner calls cops, trial ensues.
We all found the owner not guilty after deliberating for about 2 hours.

So if I call the cops and tell them you're waving a gun out of your house, and you walk out to greet the cops, not knowing what's going on, and reach for your wallet, you should get shot?

Of course you wouldn't get shot though. You're white. White privilege. Shitty little baby.

well first, the guy actually was shooting a gun. (a pellet gun) so he knew what was going on. shouldn't have been a retard.

i'm not reaching for my wallet when I have guns pointed at me. I am being a very smart and intelligent individual and complying fully and not doing anything without being asked.

awesome! good job.

Can you give me more details about what it's like being on a jury?

Did any of you think guilty and first? how'd you widdle the other ones down? what was your thought process and what was it like overall doing jury duty?

Last summer I missed out I was called for jury duty and missed out on a murder case :( I was so close.

I respect police. Police are great people. I have had many interactions where I was on the wrong side of the law for minor bullshit things. I've always been respectful and courteous and never had any problems. I'm not a fucking retard that yells, or gets out of my car, or makes sudden movements. I have no sympathy for retards that get themselves shot.

With all that vaping you are doing, I cannot see you being part of a high speed chase nor making any fast, sudden movements.......

This man was murdered!

This Barney Fife cop that murdered this man, should have never been a law enforcement officer in the first place and he should be in prison for this cowardly act too!

30% of all law enforcement officers, from Barney Fife to your top FBI agents, have no business being in this occupation, they lack maturity, tack, courage, common sense among other things!

You ever work in the industry?

He was in Vietnam

That isn't the same as being a cop or in the FBI is it? He's saying 30% of those people shouldn't hold those jobs. I'm curious if he picked that number from working in the industry or out of thin air. (or maybe a study he read)

I don't think one has to be a cop to recognize that situation didn't have to end that way and that it could have been done better.

Correct; maybe by citizens listening to what they're being told, when an Officer is pointing a gun at them.
Unless you're trying to promote the idea that NO ONE has ever pulled a gun, after they were told not to reach behind them.

It was my first and only time being a juror. I was 35 and fascinated with the process. The jury selection process was interesting. I answered their questions directly and honestly and believed I could be fair and impartial. I don't think I could do it now. I'm 65 and probably have too many formed opinions. I would want to be impartial, but honestly don't know if having so many more life experiences by now might cloud my judgment.

Going in I was leaning towards guilty because the perp was unarmed. I couldn't wait to hear the whoooooooooooole story and evidence from both sides, though. I can honestly say that it wasn't until I heard both sides that I was certain of voting not guilty. My advice (weak as it might be) is listen to everything, filter it in your mind with common sense, not politically, racially or socially. Listen hard to what the law actually says about the accusations and circumstances.

When we were in the jury room we asked for all kinds of stuff to be brought back to us...photos, gun, etc. I think there were only 2 jurors who were on the fence. It boiled down to "what would you have done?" A wild guy acting erratically, screaming obscenities and threatening to kill you, brings his arm around behind his back.......you're going to fire first, right? They agreed and that was that. We saw it as complete self-defense, not believing this lifelong law-abiding citizen should even be charged with lesser charges.

The badge blowers here are ridiculous. There's no amount of police incompetence they will not defend. Guy was unarmed and cop shot him without verifying a real threat. How he escaped justice is sickening. Truly sickening.

Did they call the phone in the room and tell the guy they're coming up because he's shooting out the window? Why do we jump to assumption that it's a mass shooting? why go in without any attempt to diffuse?

OH-KAY!!

So how is it supposed to be verified??
Now you want the suspect to be warned that the cops are on the way??

I'm not sure your background if you were a cop or are close to cops. I've posted on here a buddy I grew up with was OPD and was one of four murdered by a thug. I've also had my ass kick by a cop for doing nothing. So you'll have to count me as one who generally favors cops but doesn't give them all a free pass.

Shit didn't have to go down the way it did and we've all seen cops handle situations like that way better than this dude did. I'll allow you the last word.

I've also had numerous "interactions" with the Police and while I may think the Officer is a dumbass and his reason has no merit, I have no intentions to escalate the situation.

As everyone on here should already know, I can infer that someone is an idiot without actually using the word idiot. :D

I was taught to not argue it on the side of the road and to present your case, if it goes to Court, in Court.

You know you're not going to let me have the "last word"; because you can't. :D

Your response had nothing to do with what you've said should have happened.
Would you care to try again or have you just decided to cut your loses and run?
