Trump Administration moves to end legal marijuana.

It was changed in as much as Obama said don't pursue it heavily. Now Sessions is reversing that. Weed isn't going to be legalized over night by Congress. But the federal gov't putting less emphasis on prosecuting it was a good thing. With this ruling we're going backwards.

Still doesn't explain why liberals didn't change it themselves, especially when they've had the opportunity.

Which is why trying it out at the state level is so important. It will have to show to work in the states first before it ever gets approved nationally. That's why this ruling messing up what the state's are doing is a bad one.

You just admitted that liberal politicians are spineless and only want to complain about others not doing, what they themselves won't do. :good4u:

Another ignorant racist white man. You people can ignore these facts and spew every other excuse in the book. But the bottom line will not change.

Nixon, DEA, big pharma, billions in campaign bribes, private prisons, hits Blacks disproportionaly which racist white men love, kops get to confiscate cash from people then make them prove they obtained it legally, weapon sales to police departments, private prison industry, banks laundering the money. The "drug war" is just big business for the vested interests with the added benefit of locking up people they don't like; i.e. Blacks and those not likely to vote for them.

So me disagreeing with your rant, makes me a racist.

I hope you're aware that your response says way more about you, then it does about me. :palm:

I'm a Republican talking about what a Republican is doing in office. My believe on this issue isn't determined by who is in power

Having known Governor Wallace personally for many years, I can tell you he was a staunch Conservative with a populist bent. There was not a liberal bone in his body. I disagreed with him on almost every political issue I ever heard him discuss.

Toward the end of his life he abandoned some of his racist views and came to believe in the equality of all humans, but that was not a position he held the vast majority of his life.

Born a Democrat and died a Democrat.....just like Sen. Byrd (Exalted Cyclops) of the KKK....the man that filibustered the Civil Rights Act in 1964

TTQ64, why didn't Democrats legalize MJ when they had power?

Because they, and Obama, were too timid.

My fellow democrats will disagree, but I'm talking about what I know. Obama's contradictions on marijuana are well-documented.

Let's not forget that Obama cracked down on medical marijuana like his last name was Bush. He OPPOSED the legalization of marijuana.

If there is anyone who disputes that, I'd like to hear it.

Well, I won't discount your POV if you've been directly involved. I guess the caveat for my argument is that most politicians in purple or red states will still not make a big deal out of this. It's still a "vice" kind of issue, and not something most candidates will want to become champions of.

I'm just really pissed about this one today. Sessions' views are just so unscientific, and well dated - close to heroin? He's a nut on this topic, and the changes today COULD lead to some really negative consequences. I hope they don't, but at minimum, he is opposing the will of voters in a lot of states.

Thanked

I would say it's mediocre politics, but not bad politics. Everyone knows I am a huge stoner, but let me explain:

Much of the nation now recognizes that outlawing weed is stupid, but us stoners are still a relatively small minority. People may want it to be legal, but it's not something they lose sleep over. It's not something that would decide an election, for example. I would put it into the category of being pro/anti- death penalty. People might be against the death penalty but they wont cry when a triple rapist murderer gets electrocuted. It's the type of issue that doesn't have enough fire or passion or critical mass behind it yet in terms of optics.

Exactly. It is much ado about nothing. Nobody is kicking in your door to take your bong.

Thingy is just so used to hyperventilating he can’t help himself.

Bottom line is this. Regardless of what you think of the law, marijuana is illegal at the federal level. Additionally it has long been accepted that federal laws apply to all states. States can make them more restrictive but not less.

For me, Trump and Sessions are merely following the law. They are tasked with following the law even those they don’t agree with.

I guess Thingy and his fellow statists got so used to Obama acting above the law that they don’t know how to act now.

Stop your hyperventilating. You have gotten so melodramatic lately

Is marijuana illegal at the federal level? Yes

Fuck sentiment. It is the law. Change it

Hello?

When did the dems have power enough to pass legalized pot?

In 1995? do you think they were going to pass pot legislation in 1995?

Or are you trying to insinuate the dems had total control in 2009 and didn't pass it?

So President Obama is why we don't have legalized pot?

Here comes the lawsuits, Jeff Sessions wasting tax dollars, I’m sure this is just a brilliant ploy by the administration to get the feds to legalize pot, wink wink

That's a good point. Which democrat congress critters are working hard on this?
