That there are any number of civilized countries that function very nicely without guns in their culture means that guns add NOTHING to a socieety. Except, as in the case of the US, about 30,000+ unnecessary deaths a year.

Are you saying those deaths that come as a result of someone misusing one of the items in the OP are necessary? Are you saying someone killed by a nut with a hammer or a drunk driver is less dead than someone killed by a gun?
