The only politics was all the lawsuits filed as soon as the ban was ordered. This was done under a long-standing law and and applies to whole countries regardless of their religious or ethnic make-ups. I don't see how the SCOTUS could have ruled the other way without politicizing the Court. It is a stupid policy by Trump since refugees are the very most scrutinized immigrants as is, but whatever.
