The "Hippy" days were actually rooted in beliefs that the government was not the end all. they had us in an unjust war. the "hippy" days were also rooted in experimentation, drugs, free love, expression, togetherness.
What the Democrats are doing now is just the opposite on all fronts.
they believe the government should be more in our lives, give them more of our money and let them decide where to spend it, dependency.
And the Democrats would like to see us divided, in fact they need this divisiveness to regain power.
if you don't agree with them there is no room for conversation, they take to the streets with violence, they follow the media narrative.
So, quite the opposite of "Hippy years"
Its an insult to "hippies" to equate the two
