What’s a ‘step up from a normal background check’? What’s that even mean? They are going to interview people. That’s all they can do. The forensic people can go ahead and take the week off because their services won’t be needed.

They/you can call it a ‘criminal investigation’ but that doesn’t give them authority to compel testimony like they could if it were an investigation of a terrorist crime. There is no kinda-sorta criminal investigation. It either is or it isn’t.

And in this case it clearly isn’t.

sure it does. what's the penalty? none. in criminal cases people talk because of pressure-
we've seen nothing but with Cohen and Manafort ( although that is not technicaly a criminal case-except it is)

I was approached by Customs officers because one of my boats had been used for smuggling before I bought it.
With nothing to gain or lose I cooperated fully...most people would and prove it isn't a criminal investigation.

as an alternative to school sports in which I originally wanted to participate, Owl Woman.

I got in trouble anesthetizing a football player who was bullying a bookworm friend of mine.
I was then ostracized for putting a popular hero on hold for a while.
Actually arrested, but released immediately after witnesses were interviewed.

All you need to do is ask what crime they are investigating.

If they say they aren’t investigating a crime, you can tell them you don’t have time for it. Or come back another day. Or no comment. I don’t want to get involved. Or whatever lol.

Why don’t you move to some place, with a good functioning police state, where you can be compelled to talk against your wishes.

In the meantime, stop voting please.
