His highly political opening statement will leave a stain as to whether he can be a neutral judge and not one that is seeking revenge. I have read many statements to this effect. He did some damage to himself. He should have had someone read his opening statement and advise him about bringing politics into it. It was heart wrenching hearing about his children and wife. He should have left it at that.
