while bo can produce limited change in the executive branch, he requires the help of congress in the legislative branch to effect legislative limited change

at least his proposals will be different than bushco's but how many can he get passed

i desire change too, but i think that hil can do it better

but, that is why we have elections - to resolve disagreements - hopefully

as i have said before, living in ca, ca traditionally goes dem so i will vote third candidate

He won't walk on water or turn water into wine, but he most certainly can be an effective transformational leader.

Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush .. Clinton?

Obama will simply be a rubber stamp for the Pelosi Democrats who already control Congress, the only change Obama represents is from a Republican rubber stamp to a democrat rubber stamp.

Democrats control both chambers of Congress, and that body is facing it's all time lowest approval ratings, just 16% in one poll, so giving them the Presidency to rubber stamp that agenda under the naive guise of change, isn't the brightest thing to do.

I fully understand how neutered you must be feeling. I feel your pain.

Going from that party to this party is indeed transformational .. a transformation that will result in nationalized healthcare, a sane foreign policy, and most importantly .. getting my daughter the fuck out of Iraq.

Taking a line from the right-wing playbook .. love it or leave it.

Boats leave everyday .. and I hear they serve great kool-aid. :)
 
out of Iraq, were into Kuwait to wait for Iraq to descend into chaos, at which point Obama said he would send US troops back into Iraq. It's a real brilliant plan you got there, and don't forget randomly bombing Pakistan, I'm sure that won't start anymore wars or anything, Obama's foreign policy is consistent as Swiss cheese, you're supporting him to get away from Bush's Iraq policy, then how come in 2004 Obama said there wasn't much a difference between his position on Iraq, and George W. Bush's? How do you justify your position with recent Obama rhetoric? Hope? Blind obedience? Or just plan partisan worship?

personally, i prefer one party to dominate congress and the other (or another) party dominate the whitehouse

the less legislation the better

a dem whitehouse and a rep congress would perhaps be best (assuming that a third party cannot get in)

also, as i have said before, either bo or hc would be ok as pres, just not mccain or possibly mccain with a dem congress - not that i would vote for mc - he is a certified turncoat
 
Obama has a decent chance of getting some of his ideas passed into legislation, such as taxes, education programs, etc.

What he does not have a chance in hades of doing is "changing the way things are done in Washington."

It sounds good. It great (though completely empty) rhetoric. But no one man, even a President, is going to change one iota the back stabbing, under-the-table deals, graft, corruption, and "who gives a fuck, we are in power" crap that goes on in DC.

i tried the 'kool-aid' bit when i was 19 but do not recommend it

just as our climate goes through cycles, so does our nation's political perspective

while neither really 'work', what we have is better than what others have
to date

do we need national single payer health care - yes - can our government make it work - i hope so, but am sceptical

let's hear it for a constitutional monarchy:)

ps best of luck for your daughter and or other troops in iraq

Frankly, discussing the ignorance of Iraq with a right-winger ranks just below having my nails pulled out with pliers on the list of my favorite things to do.

I'm sure you're still confused about why republicans, most specifically the right-wing, has left such a disgusting smell in the minds of Americans and is headed for a blow-out in November. You don't have a clue I'm sure.

I'm not the slightest bit interested in convincing you of anything .. not one single thing.

I appreciate your thought my brother .. seriously I do.

It's 5:30 in the morning and I haven't been to sleep yet .. trying to avoid the nightmares. If I wait until I get so tired I just drop off to sleep .. I won't dream.

I pray you get some. In any case, not all on 'the other side' are exempt from sharing your pain and worry. Nor do they not worry about individuals or appreciate the sacrifices of your daughter and their families.

I do wish there was a way for all to share hopes, visions, and fears without the rancor, but alas, it currently seems impossible.

The R Congress with a Moderate D President seems to work out well for the nation. I'd like to experiment with that again...
