He was elected many times when alive despite having been in the Klan. Why did Democrats elect someone that participated in the leadership of the Klan yet get offended as people innocently wearing blackface?

It's the next step in the leftist "divide and conquer" system. Convince blacks are victims of whites. Act as though you have compassion for their plight. Make them hate whites and blame everything on the whites and especially white Republicans and thereby hold the loyalty and the vote of the blacks. They've been doing that since all of them old southern Democrat racist left the Democrat Party and were accepted into the Republican Party during Nixon's "Southern Solution" to capture the south.
