Where's the calls for jail time for this wife beater?

Oh yes, definitely. Like if your 8 year old takes your phone and you have to get it back. Grabbing it from the youngster would be a criminal offense. Like, if the boy took crayons from his sister, the Police need to be called for these types of 'crimes'. (Maybe it should be in the Constitution?)

He apologized, meaning he knows he did something wrong, regardless of what obscure posters on jpp dot com think.

If his wife did something wrong, she should be expected to apologize herself.

Self control is a life skill everyone should cultivate. There is no situation, no excuse, no justification for pushing a spouse to the ground and getting into a physical altercation with them unless your life and health are in mortal danger.

I generally ask for the item to be returned and he generally returns it.

If a person won’t return an item to you, you should wait till they do, or call someone else to appeal to them to return the phone. I, nor my husband, would ever wrestle an item from the other or any other person for that matter, under these circumstances. There are times when it is warranted, if someone’s trying to harm themselves, but not merely because you want the item returned when you demand it, that’s being abusive.

It’s why I don’t think this is the first encounter this couple has had with one another. The interaction shows problems in their marriage.
^^^ Well articulated and entirely reasonable common sense.

It is extraordinary actually that this kind of common sense, this kind of adult judgement, this kind of social etiquette is not more widely understood in the backwaters of internet message boards.

hahahahahahahahahaha ...
Some women LIKE to get 'physical'. They do things to PROVOKE an altercation. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe they are testing your 'Manhood'? :)

OK. I'm not following it that closely. Since Cawacko is from SF area, I'd think he'd be more up to date than the rest of us?

It’s obviously all over the news here but we’re not seeing anything the national media isn’t showing.

I mentioned here years ago I had a good friend on the Giants and through them I got to meet Larry and his wife a couple of times. These were brief encounters so I don’t know them but nonetheless it crossed my mind their behavior prior. I asked my friend’s wife is she or anyone else on the team had any inclination if this had happened prior in their relationship. Haven’t heard a response yet

I don't know about you, but most married couples have 'fights' every now and then.

I must be a good judge of character, because I have never dated, or had any kind of a relationship with a female who practiced violence of any sort.

Naturally, self-defense is always merited if a female comes at you with a knife, gun, or with any intent to cause bodily harm or lethal injury. Undoubtedly, there are some female psychos out there -- but I have been able to avoid them like the plague!

Yep, and I’ve venture to guess those who claim otherwise are lying if you’ve been together any length of time. Look at Tiger and Elen. There was no “attacks” in their marriage until she found out he was cheating then she attached him with a golf club.

Intimately what we need to know is what this was over. Would give a better insight

Some times females get bored. So ... they fuck with you until you understand that they are demanding you fuck their brains out. It's either, you step up to the plate ... or they find someone else that will.
PS: If I lived in Miss Phantasmal's World of Stepford ... I would have to kill myself. :(

Since neither is complaining ... I figure it's none of my business.

I think she grabber his phone ... and he grabbed it back. Is THAT 'Wife Beating'?

It wasn't just about grabbing a phone.

"The man who shot the video did not wish to be identified, but told The San Francisco Chronicle he saw the couple having a “very emotional conversation” that lasted roughly 20 minutes before Pam Baer grabbed her husband’s cellphone.

He knocks her down off her chair and gets on top of her and puts his hands on her,” the man told the Chronicle. “She was screaming for help. She seemed pretty terrified.”

You saw the video. Do you believe Baer should be in jail?

Edit: she acknowledge herself she fell off the chair. I’m not justifying Baer’s behavior but that’s not what we witnessed

It disturbs me that he got physical like this. Both behaved badly but when she grabbed his phone and in response he threw her to the ground, it makes me think it's not the first time he manhandled her.

I wonder what could have been on that phone that her grabbing it made them have a public scene. What made a recognizable guy like Bauer go off like this in public, where someone was sure to recognize him?

My gut says lock him up for a few days until he thinks over his reaction, but my head says even if he gets charged he wouldn't go to jail.

The woman takes (STEALS) the man's phone. The man retrieves HIS phone. I saw no intent of him doing ANYTHING other than retrieving HIS phone from a THIEF ... who was apparently his wife.
