White libs - will HARVARD & YALE be free for everyone if Bernard wins 2020???

No, but if someone is asking about a liberal policy, but they only want to hear from white Liberals, they obviously don't care what the non-white people think.
Or maybe I'm wrong. Is Bigdog around to clear this up?

he's trying to separate elitist whites from populist whites. who you wit?

Public education has worked very well in giving millions of Americans an opportunity to succeed. If you don't like it, move to Somalia, or somewhere else that you don't have to deal with government.

It’s worked great for many whites and those with money. Everyone else not as much.

You know who the best are? Those who virtue signal for public schools and send their kids to private schools. Because you know, their kids deserve better of course.

this is the race group historically benefitting from ivy league institutions. the answer to this indicates their level of white entitlement.

How do you know it's race-based and not class-based? Asians and Jews are actually overrepresented in Ivy League schools.

How will this free college for all work? Colleges are already full. Will Bernard build a shitload of new colleges to hold the impending tsunami of Free students?

Will Bernard make Harvard and Yale FREE for everyone? :dunno:

Will colleges be allowed to not admit an applicant? It's a right, isn't it? Can I demand free college as a 53 year old? I've paid taxes for almost 40 years (Meet the 15 year old dishwasher extraordinaire )?

Part of me wants to see that.

Let the tenured college professors get a little taste of the government deciding how much to ‘reimburse them’ for their services. Thousands of hospitals are struggling because they have to rely on so much Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements to cover their operating costs and staff wages. This has affected me directly.

Go for it. Let them have a taste of it.

Yep.

Ivy League Academia preaches "Free College". Well, let them walk the talk.

:dunno:

Great question.

Let's see if any white libs can answer it.

When you were young our education system was almost completely segregated. When you were young many women couldn’t get jobs in corporate America so many of best and brightest women went into teaching. Neither of those are the case today (though schools do remain somewhat highly segregated). Is that what we should go back to?

He never brought that part up once. You can go back to what he said without segregation.

I don't see why the rules on admittance should change if college becomes free.

PRIVATE COLLEGES are PRIVATE COLLEGES. They will be free if the PRIVATE colleges want and can make them to be FREE!

What a stupid ass THREAD.

Well by the sounds of it, it was put together by someone lacking proper education just bitching about education.

It's definitely possible I missed it but I haven't seen Sanders or Warren talk about making private Universities free. I always thought they were referring to public ones.

I would phrase the question as one of capacity. I don't know that all our Universities are full now but if hypothetically hundreds of thousands of kids who previously would not have gone to school decide to go now because it's free is there room in our existing infrastructure? The answer to me is you build new schools. Then would the states or federal government be responsible for paying for it?

Oh no, hundreds of thousands of intelligent, hard working students will be able to go to college. What horrors??? How will America tolerate such a terrible thing happening?

Seriously, we have done it before, we are doing it now, and hopefully we will do it in the future. By making education accessible to any student who qualifies, not just to the rich, America has become a country where people can move up in class. People of middle class backgrounds, like Bloomberg, can become billionaires. This is a good thing.

It might displace people like the trumps who have a lot of money, but very little educational drive.

If we offer reasonable salaries for teachers, we will get good teachers. We cannot keep paying them salaries assuming that is the only job women can get.

At least you admit that those failing had the opportunity and blew their chances.

America is a nation of second chances, third chances, and billionth chances. The Alt Right is trying to change that. It would destroy one of the things that makes America great.

Provide a valid explanation why taxpayers that aren't a kid's parent have a greater responsibility to fund the kid's college than his/her own parents.

For the most part, people going to college are adults.

But there are elitists and populists in every race. Why does he only care about the white ones?

Republicans are obsessed with race. I thought we had moved past that, but apparently there are large parts of the country where some people have not moved past that.

Can I demand free college as a 53 year old?

Right now, you can go to community college for reduced tuition. I would hope you would seriously consider doing so. It is never to late to improve yourself. Most community colleges will accept anyone. If you do well there, you can transfer to a four year college.

There are people in America who are illiterate adults, and are able to turn their lives around and become doctors. It is a miracle of second chances in America. I am not saying you are that bad, or can do that well, but you can improve yourself.

Ivy League Academia preaches "Free College". Well, let them walk the talk.

The Ivy Leagues have gotten very aggressive with scholarships. 82% of Princeton Alumni graduate debt free. That is an amazing number.

The truth is that the Ivy Leagues have more money than other colleges, and can afford to get the best students, no matter how poor they are. I keep seeing BigBitch and the other Neo-Nazis lacking any understanding of how Ivy Leagues work. Tuition is high, but it is not that important to the Ivy Leagues. It is just used as a way to get money from the rich that can afford it, but not as a way to exclude the poorer students who cannot afford it.

Yes! I have changed my vote! I now support Bernie and free college!
I am coming back out of retirement (seems many are doing that these days), going back to school on the government, get my Masters in Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy, selling my house and moving to Florida and get a part time job working for NASA. Go Bernie!!
