Actually the current situation, and the events leading up to it, is a text book example of why positive feedback does not work with complex systems. We're on a swing to the left now, which will take us farther to the left than the last time we swung to the left. Just as this most recent swing to the right was more extreme than previous swings to the right.

It will continue to do so until one or the other extreme abolishes the republic and establishes a totalitarian regime.

And, no, totalitarianism is NOT more likely to come from the right.
