Don't start with the "you should have excepted every Republican who wasn't a racist!" crap. Clearly, the guy is running for the RNC and hopes to monopolize on RACISM in the Republican party to get the chairmanship of the Republican party by circulating a cd with a clearly racist song on it to members of the Republican party.

No. it's mocks the use of the word, which is considered racist. Only self depricating humor invovling race is acceptable. ie Adam Sandler making Jew jokes. Blonde haired and blue eyed comedians don't get laughs with the same schtick

It's a real test, I'm hoping he isn't successful. "The Southern Strategy" is no longer viable, and such an aim would only lead the R Party to even a longer road to regaining viability.
 
African americans use racial slurs as a way to difuse the power of the words. It's a way to say the word means nothing to them and it demonstrates the utter powerlessness of the slur when it's used casually and even jokingly. Take for example the popular phrase 'Nigga, please!' The phrase is so far from being a slur anymore that it elicits laughter.

It's under this presumption that song was ever even made, I'm going to assume, since I don't really know the author of the song. That's my take on the humor aspect of this. Is it funny? Not particularly, but I suppose the Al Sharpton voice and the familiar magic dragon song could concievably fire the humor nurons of the average Limbaugh listener, who happen to be the target audience of the politician in question, whose name I haven't bothered to learn anyway.
 
I think we can all agree that the song is, at its best or worst, either mildly funny or mildly offensive and it really doesn't deserve the attention it's getting which further enriches the low talent producer of this tripe. You'd be better served to just ignore it. Some battles aren't worth fighting no matter how convincing your triumph would be.

No, I usually don't go around calling anyone by their racial distinction, because that is somewhat racist. I don't say, "Hey, you Jew!"..."Yo, Asian dude!" ..."What's up my Negro!" ...I don't ADDRESS people with those terms, because THAT is racist! The song you keep bitching about, does NOT ADDRESS OBAMA! It calls him a "Negro" and he is of the Negroid race, so he IS a Negro! You see, it is the difference in a proper noun and an adjective! To ADDRESS someone as a "Negro" might be racist, to DESCRIBE someone as a "Negro" is accurate if they are of the Negroid race.

tolerated versus tolerate. Byrd changed his outlook on blacks and that is the only reason he is still allowed. I am not denying that my party USED to be the party of sourthern racists, but clearly, as you so nimbly prove, the republicans have taken over that mantle.

clearly "white nigger" is an offensive term. And he was lambated by both sides of the aisle for using that term.... And do you honestly think that Byrd could be elected in any state north of the Mason Dixon line??

and, in any case, that interview was seven years ago....so... why not try sticking to the present and not dodge my question about Jesse Jackson?

I'm reading this book "Nixonland" right now, and it's a really fascinating look through the history of the Republican party from the LBJ years on. And it's shocking how much political power the Southern Strategy gave to the Republican party. But you are right, those days are over, one need only look at the demographics.

And I come on here and Dixie and Dano, and even Cawacko! are arguing for why it's ok to call black people negroes. And I think to myself; what a wonderful world.

Cause that's what's gonna get us things like universal health care. They're won't be enough Republicans around to stop it going forward.

Yeah, it's not something you call black people. Maybe you should read about the civil rights movement, and why and when, blacks in this country rejected the term negro, and called themselves black.

Euc was great! And he was very funny that day, but that was rare. He generally wasn't funny. He reminded me a bit of Prak, but of course, Prak is really fucking funny.

As far as who is talking shit; it's still you. And to equate not wanting to use terms generally considered to be degrading to describe other people, no matter who they are with being on a high horse, is quite like shrilly complaining about the "PC police" after calling a woman a whore.

It's meaningless noise. In the end, your party will either get it, or they will continue on as they are now. I hope they continue on as they are now. So feel free to happy-ass along calling black people negroes as much as you like...Queenie. ;)

Like I said four times now it was inappropriate for the guy running the RNC Chairmanship to distribute this. I would have hoped he lost anyway now I hope he doesn't even run.
