Oscar Grant - Shot and Killed by BART Police

I'm guessing they're going to do an "investigation", which is going to last as long as this is in the news, and then clear him of all wrongdoing.

Happens all the time my brother.

Here in Georgia a very good man, loving father and husband, college-educated engineer, active in his community was shot to death in the back of his head while lying on the ground complying with a police officer's orders .. who then shot him to death .. and walks free today.

Take a look at the video of John Brolin and a black actor whose name escapes me when they get ruffled by police. Brolin is handcuffed and put in a car, the black guy is repeatedly tazed while he lay motionless on the ground.

Obama means absolutely nothing in relationship with police and race in this country.

Because rural third world hellholes are even worse for minorities.

Well, I can assure you we haven't had one person shot in the back while lying in the road, by cop or not. When they call the ambulance, we are the ones that respond. If they had shot anybody we'd have been called.

I think it may depend on where you are rural and minority rather than just all rural areas.

I agree .. but that is also true of large cities.

Colorado is one of the more progressive places in the west for a long time. I understand you now have two African-Americans leading the state house and senate even though the black popuolation in Colorado is about 4%.

I also remember when Rice was the mayor of Denver.

Colorado, urban or rural, seems one of the exceptions.
 
Just talked to a buddy who lives in downtown Oakland where all the action happened last night and he said he's watching the BART hearing live on TV and its getting ugly. He thinks more protest/violence may go down this weekend. Lord I hope not.

Unfortunately, like the riots of the sixties, it's the only thing that will get their attention.
 
good thing it's in California then, not many civilians have guns that can threaten law enforcement, so law enforcement really has no worries about retaliation. they can kill with abandon.

Amadou Diallo. Shot at 42 times, stuck 19 for being black and reaching for a wallet. Don't forget the 92 year old black woman shot to death in her own house when crooked cops kicked in her door, unannounced with an illegal warrant and she shot back and got killed for defending herself.

I think we need to give Obama a year to make change before we write him off.

Not many guns in CA? Where have you been?

In the late 90s the US Army used LA emergency rooms as training for their Drs. It was where they would likely see more gunshot victims.

There are PLENTY of guns in CA. There are just fewer legal guns out there.

aside that I don't believe guns are 'legal or illegal', the problem in cali is that the guns are not in the right hands.

Thats a wise decision. It would really really piss you off to see it. Had another cop shot the cop that murdered this kid, he/she would have been justified. There was NO reason for the cop to even draw his gun, let alone use it.
