Yes. I just don't need to disparage where I live every day as you seem to. I wonder how many dirty hippies from the summer of love
are still alive, let alone in mansions in the Berkeley Hills. Man I could go for a slice of Zachary's pizza right about now.
Can you smell the smoke from the fires?

I spend a lot of time in SF. I didn't know that story you just told, but it doesn't surprise me. I live mostly in NYC and the Denver area, so believe me, I have seen the phenomenon you're describing up close and personal.
Years ago, the Denver airport had to be moved out of the city for a variety of reasons. When deciding where to build DIA, no one wanted it anywhere near their homes. So the various governments dropped it in the middle of a field more than thirty minutes away from Denver. Over the past twenty years, that field has been developed into mile after mile of homes, hotels, restaurants, etc. People who literally built to the airport have started complaining about the noise and other impacts of the airport. The people who forced the airport out of the city to protect their own property values complain about the traffic and length of time it takes to get to DIA now. Somewhere along the line the vast majority of us forget what it means to be self interested and instead just become selfish. What's worse than being selfish is being, in the case of the pro-immigrant/anti-multi-family housing woman and the airport protesters, is being selfish and hypocritical.

Once you hit the 'reply' button, you will notice that the text you are quoting is 'wrapped' in quote tags.
quote and /quote wrapped in brackets. This creates the box. You can do it manually, or you can use the icon. In fact, when you start to separate a quoted comment, it starts with {quote=Jack} That puts your name on the quote. That's already done by Vbulletin. So the first part that you want to separate only requires you to put the /quote at the end, adding the brackets. I've deleted the brackets because it would automatically put everything I've typed between the

OK. I'm going to 'Wrap Quote Tags' around your "If you want to practice, just put" ... and then click 'Post Quick Reply'.
And ... not quite what I was looking for.![]()
I've been saying that for years. The police force should match the local demographic. Some who scream 'racist' about everything claim that black cops fall right in line with Whitey. I don't believe that is true for all black cops. Not at all. We have an extremely diverse police force here. We never have black men being shot by cops. Ever. Unless there is a shootout between law enforcement and criminals.Hire Black Cops to Patrol/Respond to black neighborhoods.
(as far as the typical mixed neighborhood, ... ?)
We're starting to see a lot of younger people running for office. I think once the median age in Congress drops about 20 years, more younger voters will take an interest. Thanks for the welcome. I haven't looked around enough to form an opinion yet, but I have high hopes.
Yes, most older people are by definition the enemies of progressivism. It doesn't help that older people tend to be much more politically active than younger people. They control the political parties and keep reelecting incumbants because well, old dogs and new tricks. Add to that the influence of money and I think the American political system is utterly broken.
Agree. Before smart phones, their body cams always seemed to 'malfunction' whenever they were committing crimes against humanity. There have been instances when I just rolled my eyes and did whatever some prick cop told me to do without cause because I just needed to catch up to my friends and didn't want to be beaten to death in public, but that's the point. They shouldn't be able to act that way. The only reason they're being held accountable for the first time in American history (sometimes) is because every citizen has a camera in her pocket now. They were never given the right to terrorize us. They were never given the right to abuse the authority we let them have and abuse the people they're supposed to serve. They exceeded their social contract. They recruited racists and punks with chips on their shoulders and small dick syndrome. They gave those people guns and set them loose on our streets. They corrupted the culture of law enforcement so that bad actors were never held accountable for unspeakable crimes and good actors were forced to be silent. Compliance should be voluntary and just, not just the only way to avoid being murdered.
Be nice. I still remember learning all the wonders of Vbulletin when I joined my first board...Maher.You're not exactly a computer guy, are you? Have you made use of email yet? It's amazing! You don't even need a stamp.

I corrected your post by removing extra quote tags, and adding others. Part of the problem was my fault, because there were quote tags around your name when I explained how to use a name with tags. These tags are sensitive suckers. Any time you have a set of tags, it separates the post into a box.
Every post that you want to separate starts with {quote} (I purposely didn't use brackets) and ends with {/quote} Sometimes the brackets get screwed up, and people have several posts that are off kilter. Correcting them is easy. Just make sure there aren't extra quote tags where they don't belong.
I also employed the 'multi quote' button in this post to illustrate it's use.
You can quote this post, and look at how the quote tags are placed. That should give you an idea of what every post has to look like. Also...until you get the hang of it, always use 'go advanced'. That gives you the option to 'preview post' before you submit.

I'm surprised it made it to trial. When Eric Garner was strangled to death by a cop in NYC, the racist Staten Island grand jury (where most cops live) refused to send it to trial.Robert Olsen, then a 7-year veteran of the DeKalb County Police Department, fatally shot Anthony Hill in the parking lot of his apartment complex.
A former Georgia police officer was found not guilty of murder Monday in the 2015 shooting death of an unarmed Air Force veteran.
Robert Olsen, who was a seven-year veteran of the DeKalb County Police Department when he shot and killed Anthony Hill, 27, in the parking lot of his apartment complex, was cleared of two murder counts.
He was found guilty of one count of aggravated assault, one count of making false statements and two counts of violation of oath of office, according to the DeKalb County District Attorney.
Olsen had responded in March 2015 to reports of a resident at the complex knocking on doors before undressing and crawling on the ground naked.
Olsen is white, and Hill, whose family said he suffered from bipolar disorder, was black. The shooting set off protests in DeKalb, and Olsen was charged in January 2016. At the time, DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James said Olsen had lied, saying Hill had physically assaulted him before he fired his weapon, while in reality, Hill was shot before he had a chance to reach the officer.
Prosecutors said during the trial that Hill was having a mental health crisis stemming from his bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from his service in Afghanistan, and posed no threat to Olsen the day he was shot.

Which 'moderates' are on the 'wrong' side?If democrats truly believe this is the most important election in our history, I suggest that they/moderates hurry up and get on the right side of this history instead of trying to play both sides of the fence
When you 'wrap quote tags' using the button, you simply highlight the text you want to quote, and then use the button.
Or manually type in the quote tags.

I've never PM'd anyone ... and won't start now. You've given me enough info to figure this out. I'll have fun with it. I'm indebted to you, thanks again.
