Onceler is looking for a rockin' stimulus package, huge investment in renewable domestic energy, ending the war in Iraq, overhauling NCLB, making college tuition affordable for everyone & major headway toward universal healthcare. I'd see that as much more significant change than saving $125 million in an almost purely symbolic gesture.

Tom Delay is not spot on; it would be an empty symbolic gesture. I thoroughly hate this kind of BS; frankly, it's the same mentality that says Bush's daughters should go to war if he makes that decision.
And who says it sends the wrong message? Will cancelling inauguration festivities because they cost too much reassure foreign investors that America is on sound financial footing?
I could actually care less either way, but I'm not going to ever call empty proslytizing from Tom Delay "spot on"...

Um, don't you guys realize that this is the first step in President Obama's stimulus package? Or, maybe it was a bailout of the catering/entertainment businesses in Washington? I can't exactly remember which one.
