Unemployment rate at 8%

Except in his case we are arguing opinion, not facts. A prerequisite of the use of that site requires includes a basic understanding of logic, which you just demonstrated that you don't have.

You are trying to justify calling the killing of other people "glorious".

An old song (no matter how popular) does not do that. The fact that lots of people think that way does not make it right. That is the basic premise of that particular logical fallacy. And it holds true here.

Also, the Battle Hymn of the Republic does not call killing "glorious".

That fact that lots of red-blooded Americans sang that song during the civil war tells me that were of my opinion, that killing large numbers of Democrats for the cause of freedom is indeed glorious. "Glory, glory hallelujah..."

Coming from someone who never felt inclined to serve in the military, it is just hollow sentiment and a lack of value for human life.

So now you have to have served to have an opinion on glory. 90% of Americans have never served.

BTW more ownage of you about the improper use of logical fallacies! :)

You wish you owned me so you could ask more about my sex life?

The use of the logical fallacies was legitimate. And more so than your use of that website.

No, I am not saying that people have to have served to have an opinion on glory. I was saying that you talk big about fighting for freedom when you have not actually risked your own life doing so.

at&t announced that they will be hiring 3000 new employees in their broadband wing...

First new hires I've heard of since 2001.

Lets put it this way, when i was looking for my new job, I only had 4 interviews. Normally, in my field, I would have 3 a week. I was unemployed for 4 weeks. Luckily, I'm a programmer with a personality or else I would be collecting checks from the government (which I always refused I would do). There weren't a lot of jobs, but I actually improved my situation. I was very lucky... *mainly because I'm not a dweeb like watermark is! ;P

AT&T was one of the few I interviewed for but I was one of about 100 that got my foot in the door. I hated the environment. I also interviewed for Jones Day (Law Firm) and Pasco (Software Provider). I ended up in Will-Burt (Manufacturing). It's an ESOP..

I work in one of the few areas of at&t that has a decent environment. But really, even if it sucked I'd keep the job. I'm not stupid.

Unemployment for college grads is only 4%
I bet for something hard like computer science it's even less

I'm not sure really. I know there aren't a lot of jobs open right now in my field, but there are some. Technology isn't going away, but at the same time companies are investing less into IT. I kind of made a career switch by switching from Web to Software, but there really isn't too much difference for me to pick it up and run with it.

any of the graduates in the hard sciences have low unemployment rates. I've had two job offers since the down turn in September. None as good as my present position but hey an offer is an offer.

It seems like I'm getting a ton of calls from recruiters this last few days as well, but I'm not calling them back. Half of them I can't even understand so I'm not wasting my time with them. But it only took me a month to find a good job in my field. As opposed to what I saw on the news yesterday, a job fair in Cleveland backed up traffic because there were so many people out of work, and a lot have ben out for 6 months or more.

1. Actually, no, again, since we are discussing a matter of opinion. Do you see the difference? If not, there is no use pursuing the discussion further.
2. Again, 90% of Americans never were in the military, and in fact a large percentage of those in the military were actually in some type of conflict with the enemy. Therefore by your logic, or lack thereof, 90%+ Americans are not entitled to "talk big about fighting for freedom". Is this actually your position?

My position is, and has been, that claiming that killing other people is glorious is a sick and disgusting thing.

I did not say that anyone without military experience does not get to have an opinion on glory. Recheck my statement.

The rumors I am hearing is that AT&T is about to launch a major upgrade of its broadband in many areas.

The municipal fiber builds and the launch of FIOS by Verizon has both cable tv and phone companies nervous about their customer base.

Actually what you said was : "Coming from someone who never felt inclined to serve in the military, it is just hollow sentiment and a lack of value for human life.", which seems to say the same thing. *shrug*

I called your statement hollow sentiment and a lack of value for human life. And I stand by that statement.

Again, an opinion not shared by red-blooded Americans who agree to the sentiments in The Battle Hymn of the Republic; in other words, an opinion shared by Democrats.

Are you claiming that "red-blooded Americans" would call the killing of another human being "glorious"?

Are you actually claiming that republicans would celebrate causing the death of fellow americans?
