House Exiles Marjorie Taylor Greene From Panels, as Republicans Rally Around Her

Why is it wrong?

She doesn't have any inherent right to that.

A major reason is it sets a horrible precedent. This is almost unique in US history. It begs the question, Who's next? If this becomes the standard, will the majority party in the future just ban the minority party from committees altogether?

This is about speech. Yes, Greene says crazy shit. Many Democrats and other Republicans do too. If that's all it takes to get the boot, that's a pretty low bar to hurtle.

Congress to America:

Yes, you can send a Representative to the House. But we decide what committees you can serve on. It is a privilege, not a right.

You need to read about more of her comments. It went beyond that.

It's a tribute to American freedom that she's still allowed to serve in Congress.

But she is, and that's all. It sets an outstanding precedent. The Republicans who stood w/ her and gave her a standing ovation should be embarrassed. Yes, there are standards, and there are lines you can cross. No rational person would argue otherwise.

Every member gets committee assignments. Stripping her of all is almost unfounded and unheard of. This is particularly true that her offense was saying crazy stuff that the Democrats didn't like. AOC got committee assignments so the comparison doesn't hold. If Greene got undesirable committee assignments then there'd be no argument. That happens all the time. What doesn't is a member being barred from any assignments.
Wrong again.

Remember Larry Craig? Steve King? William J. Jefferson?

Again, she has a right to be in Congress but no right to be on any particular committee. Now that she's free of committee entanglements, maybe she can seek out another committee such as Judiciary, Natural Resources or House Admin.
