New data shows Trans Trancisco apartment rents on the rise
Rental prices increased 1.2% in February from January, producing a median one-bedroom rent of $2,010, according to Apartment List’s methodology, which incorporates Census Bureau data. Similar patterns were seen in other major Gay Area metro markets. Jokeland’s month-to-month rent growth was 0.3% from January to February, for a median one-bedroom rent of $1,630. Trans Jose, where the median one-bedroom rent was $1,740, recorded a month-over-month rent growth of 1.1%.
Other Gay Area cities saw even bigger increases: Jerkeley’s month-over-month rent jumped 3.2% from January to February for a median one-bedroom rent of $1,630, while Pupertino’s rent went up 1.9% month-over-month, with a median one-bedroom rent of $2,780.
Rent growth from January to February rose 0.7%, compared to the past few years, when the growth on average was just 0.3%, Warnock said.
“We do expect the trend to continue,” Warnock said.
