The NRA favors selling as many guns as possible, They are an arm of gun manufacturers. It has been a long time since they worked for the members.
Making drugs illegal drives up the street price of drugs, and the social price of using drugs.
That is about the size of things.
Because they kill 35,000 people every year.
What lie did I say?
You are the one who is insisting you responsibly secure your weapons, but we have no reason to believe that.

So you want a complete confiscation of all current guns and a prohibition on the manufacture, sales and possession of all firearms?
I'm glad you asked because no one else has.
What I would like to see first and foremost is a ban on the production and distribution of newly-manufactured guns for civilian use; with over 400,000,000 guns on the streets already, we don't need more.
Then, I would institute annual, mandatory mental health evaluations for every single gun owner.
If you miss your evaluation, you lose your guns.
If you fake your evaluation, you lose your guns.
If you forget your evaluation, you lose your guns.
If you fail your evaluation, you lose your guns.
You have to do this every year, and you have to sit down with the same people who evaluate all mental health claims for Social Security Disability...in my mind, that agency handles this too. If you lose your guns, you have the opportunity to appeal the decision in court, and you can present your case as to why you think you're mentally fit, and the doctor can present theirs, and the judge will make the ultimate decision.
The thing I want to see most out of gun reform is accountability. Right now, there is no accountability. But if everyone had to undergo an evaluation, that then adds a level of accountability where one doesn't currently exist. So a doctor is going to be much more careful about how they diagnose someone, should that someone take their gun and kill themselves or others.
So, while I'd love to have a gun-free society, I know that's unrealistic. So instead, my focus is on accountability.
It is my opinion that most gun owners are not responsible people who with act responsibly on their own.
It is also my opinion that most gun owners are reckless and are addicted to the gun, thus are allergic to any personal responsibility they feel to society and others. I think many of them need treatment for this addiction, because if left untreated, the addiction is only going to hurt everyone else when the addicted carelessly and stupidly lose their gun, have it stolen from them, or act irresponsibly with it.

1) What do you base the claims on that most gun owners are not responsible and are reckless
3) With all that if a voter is asked for an ID to prove they are who they claim to be that's voter suppression?
The fact that 200,000 guns go missing every year from "responsible gun owners" and 14% of the time, they don't even tell the cops.
So after 5 years, about 1M "responsible gun owners" have lost their weapons, and nearly 140,000 of those guns are just...out there...somewhere...likely in the hands of those who seek to do harm to themselves or others, or in the hands of those who will sell it to those who seek to do harm to themselves or others.
You have to submit an ID when you register to vote.
So if you've already submitted that ID, then why do you need to submit another?

You said 400,000,000 guns on the street and 200,000 gone missing that's a miniscule portion of 400,000,000. It would appear the VAST majority of gun owners are quite responsible. I would think youd favor the NRA to teach responsible gun ownership.
BTW I think your yearly evaluations would put an undue and unnecessary hardship on gun owners. I doubt it would ever fly.

How else would you prove you are who you say you are when you show up to vote? If I registert to own my gun why do I need to do an evaluation? You can't really treat rights differently and think people aren't going to call you out for it. Voting is far more dangerous than any gun.

You're blaming gun violence on mental illness, so how else do you propose keeping the guns out of the hands of the undiagnosed?
When I voted in CA, I had to give them my name and address.
Then they crossed my name off the list when I got my ballot, so no one else could vote using my information.
What is the problem with that?
Because you said the mentally ill are responsible for gun violence.
So if you're undiagnosed, then how is a background check supposed to reveal your undiagnosed mental illness so that a retailer knows not to sell you a gun?
