Biden is looking to restore faith in government

Collapse ‘imminent’ at Florida phosphate mine leaking millions of gallons of contaminated water

The mine has been closed for 20 years, neither the feds nor the state nor the county ever did much of anything to deal with the problem. This is the sort of reason that people dont trust government anymore. Failure to perform, the constantly grabbing for power, and the constant lying all combine to serve as notice that trusting government this deeply into this Dark Age is a project for chumps.

Since the private sector can’t be trusted to clean up its own shit, you just made a great case for more funding and power to state and federal environmental agencies.

Shedding 800,000 jobs/month was sinking pretty fast in Jan. of '09 for sure. If he didn't waste so much time trying create balance in govt, he might have gotten more done.

I believe he still goes down in history as achieving more than any other POTUS in his first months.

In contrast, trump took a fairly stable ship, and blew it out of the water.

Obama was a neophyte. He trusted Pelosi and both of them wasted a lot of political time and capital on healthcare over the economy.

The ship wasn't all that stable; the problems between the crew, exacerbated by some loudmouthed passengers, has been growing for decades. The ship's integrity, the infrastructure, was already failing from years of inadequate maintenance.

Even if Trump had responded perfectly to the COVID pandemic, it was going to hurt everyone due to years of neglect. Instead of a full sickbay, Trump had a medical kit...which he threw overboard.

His folly was believing that round 1 of the Stimulus would be followed up as necessary. That proved to be a bad decision, which is why Biden went big out of the gate. Neophytes are going to neophyte. His mistake.

Same with healthcare. He built a foundation on which a skyscraper could have been erected. Again...he believed that Republicans had the best interest of the nation at hand. Dems. worked with Reps. under Bush, even though he was a major fuckup. They recognized what was good for the nation.

McConnell would not allow that.

The economy was more than stable. Society most definitely was not, and trump made sure it all but collapsed in order to get a big enough following to promote his planned media empire. He fucked up and won.

He did indeed throw the kit overboard. He threw everything with Obama's name on it overboard. Much of it would have addressed Covid before it hit our shores.

History will remember both in very different lights.

Biden benefits from the failures of both

An open ended executive order mandating masks could be "forever." Certainly Biden and other government talking heads are saying many more months, which could easily turn into years for them. Or, do you have some evidence to the contrary. Hell, Biden was saying you might, might, be able to meet in small groups at someone's home by July 4th if you observe social distancing and wear a mask. The guy, and those government functionaries are fucking total retards.

Just to clarify: saying "forever" is definitely not "closer to the truth than not."

No, it couldn't turn into years. They just want people to mask up until we have herd immunity - likely sometime this summer. So, it's actually closer to "summer" than it is to "forever."

Dumb people join the military.

Actually, the military doesn't take stupid people, or lames, or lops, or most likely, you. I went through the naval nuclear power program. That is, get trained as an electrician in about six months, followed by getting the equivalent of an associate's degree in nuclear engineering in six months, followed by memorizing an entire nuclear power plant in six months (or less). I qualified third on my crew at S5G for that.

That's the large building to the direct left of the parking lot at INEL Idaho. S1W (the Nautilus prototype) is to the right front of the parking lot. A1W is behind S5G. The two white buildings directly in front of the parking lot are admin and a cafeteria.

I then got the privilege of memorizing the A1W plant on the USS Enterprise.

Everybody knows it too. Military people are actually smarter than the general population.

Face The Facts: Military Members Are Smarter Than Those They Serve

Contrary to popular perceptions, America's enlisted troops are not poorly educated. In fact, Pew reports that 98 percent of the enlisted force has at least a high school diploma. This is compared with 86.7 percent of the U.S. civilian population aged 25 or older.

Basically, it's retards like Progressives and Leftists that are the true stupid fucks in society. That they could advocate for and want a totalitarian government and be dependent on that government for survival is utterly stupid. But they do...

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said that a cleanup team was working with heavy equipment to secure an entrance to the Gold King Mine. Workers instead released an estimated one million gallons of mine waste into Cement Creek, which flows into the Animas River.

Well, it went from weeks to months to a year already, with retards like Fauci advocating for wearing two or more masks as well, and Joke and his Minions of Ignorance want you to wear one for who knows how much longer (not that I bother to even do so anymore--fuck Biden and Fauci in the left eyeball).

WASHINGTON (AP) — As President Joe Biden preaches patience but acts with urgency, his vision of the powers of the Oval Office is quickly taking shape, modeled after Democratic predecessors who dramatically expanded the reach of government to confront generational crises.

In a recent meeting with historians and in private conversations with advisers, Biden looked to the examples set by Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson as he aims to use the levers of executive authority to create opportunities and break down barriers.

Unlike Roosevelt and Johnson, who enjoyed formidable Democratic majorities in Congress, Biden has had to operate with a no-margin-for-error edge in fiercely partisan Washington.

That's a good thing, compared to the former four years of having a lawlessly hacked in criminal against humanity tRump and his fellow repukes conspiring in the sewer when it came to engaging in treasonous, seditious and moral rot antigovernment conspiracies in their effort at waging war on Democracy, voting rights against everyone and regardless of who they are and against the civilized and common decency of humanity on Earth.

That is some Orwellian bullshit for sure.

We're in a pandemic. Wearing a mask in public is a pretty small ask.

Wearing a mask outdoors was, and is, a waste of time. Wearing a mask in some big box store that's nearly empty of people is a waste of time. Wearing a mask driving your car alone is utterly stupid (and yes, people do that). It's a big annoyance and overreaction to the problem. No mask for me, I'll focus on what's important and that's not getting killed working on some 1000 amp 480 VAC panel somewhere.

Kind of strawman-ish. No one is telling people to wear masks while driving, and even Fauci doesn't emphasize wearing them outdoors unless it's in a real crowd.

It's just common sense stuff - wearing them in stores or restaurants. Basic measures.

Wearing a mask isn't as much of an annoyance as spreading COVID. At least imo.

No, but the way the government is pushing out information backed by a complicit MSM for the most part is getting that response. And, wearing a mask while doing heavy labor outdoors in 90 degree + weather is more of a danger to someone's health than Chinese Disease is, as but one example.

If Biden wants to restore faith in government he is going about it the wrong way. His lack of transparency about the crisis at the border does not engender faith in the government.
