This is just your excuse for not wanting to admit that I'm correct about states rights.
I always thought that states rights were an odd policy to run on. First off, in the West, we usually talk about individual rights, but you are arguing for government rights. Beyond that just one level of government. Not local or federal government rights, but just state level government rights. A state is not a standard unit, so how could it be the perfect unit of government? It goes in size from 400,000 people to 100 times that.
Then we look at what it has been used for. It was used to defend slavery, and segregation. It was used repeatedly to defend racism, and government persecution of minorities. Those same state righters were against states rights when some states wanted to defend the freedom of Blacks, or when some states wanted to desegregate.
Maybe not for Jim, but for many people "states rights" is just a dog whistle for racism.
