Atlanta 'defund the police' backer has car stolen -- by kids in broad daylight:

Everybody loses if it comes to that.

It's already come to that.

$2,663 @ MONTH

In Los Angeles, DEMOCRAT city officials grappling with an ongoing homelessness crisis have turned to an idea that for decades was politically unpopular and considered radical: a government-funded tent encampment.

Other cities, including San Francisco and Seattle, have opened similar programs in recent years. But the high public cost of LA's first sanctioned campground — more than $2,600 per tent, per month — has advocates worried it will come at the expense of more permanent housing.

The campsite opened in late April on a fenced-in parking lot beside the 101 freeway in East Hollywood. The lot-turned-campground can accommodate up to about 70 tents in 12-by-12-foot spots marked by white squares painted on the asphalt.

According to a report by the city administrative officer, the new East Hollywood campground costs approximately $2,663 per participant per month. That's higher than what a typical one-bedroom apartment rents for in the city.

No, the employer determines it. They can set wages according to the profit they want to make and the ability to attract workers.

In a fascist dictatorship the employer would determine it, but in our labor market, the worker is simply free to not take the job until the employer raises the wage.

You're not going to get many good, loyal workers if you are setting wages according to your profit margins.

Again, this is why most businesses fail; the people running them think they're entitled.

When the government is your competition, you will lose. The government hates anyone who challenges their monopoly powers.

Government isn't competing for labor here...the employers can have all the labor they need if they offer fair market wages.

But many aren't...and that's why most of those businesses will fail.

Then who will support the government? It can't be all chiefs and no Indians, brah.

Every government job is a drain on the private sector.

Tell that to say workers at British Leyland. Tell that to floundering labor unions that can't get contracts because their wage demands are too high... Workers can demand a certain wage all they want, and employers can fire them or not hire them all day long for not wanting to pay it.

I don't fucking give a shit about some bullshit company running into labor problems because they want to treat their workers like shit.

If it's that hard for them, they can just quit the business. Sell out. Cash out.

Why would they, unless they are forced to?

To attract good, loyal workers of course.

If you have a company full of clockwatchers who are not loyal, then you'll spend way more on turnover than if you simply just paid higher wages from the start.

This is what I mean when I say that most businesses fail, and most people who run businesses have no fucking idea what they're doing.

Do you pay more than the sticker price for anything because you're worried the seller might be making too little?

I don't care about the bottom line of any company that I buy products from.

Don't give a shit at all.

Only because the government is paying them more not to work

$300 a week is a lot?

Hardly.

It can't even pay rent for a one-bedroom apartment in most of the country.

End that fat unemployment check and see what kind of wage demands they can make...

The wage demands will be the same.

And thanks for confirming the only way businesses can hire low wage workers is if they put their thumb on the scale.

Loose Vagina will happily pay higher prices and higher taxes as long as the working poor get more money, won't he?

Sure will! I would be 100% behind paying higher taxes and prices if it meant the product/service I get is from people who actually want to do the work.

Not paying good wages leads to high turnover, and turnover costs more than just paying someone a higher wage from the beginning.

The part of labor that kills businesses isn't the wage...it's the turnover.

You get less turnover and more loyalty if you pay your workers more.

The military and the new federalized national police force.

Where they gonna get the money? Tell me they're not doing that yet.

Obama tried that, and when it failed, he tried to weaponize DHS and other government agencies.

Every government job is a drain on private citizens. It takes X number of jobs to support the government.

The government can't make people poor and survive.
