Yes, and it was an accusation of biased reporting. Would you like to see other?

They are always trying to play the gotcha game. That's why we have to be leery of anything they say.

I was told he admitted he was liberal, but he was different from the liberals we have today.

If Adolf Hitler could be found saying ANYTHING that would support DNC's viewpoint, DNC would promote him.
If you're taking DNC's comments as anything but entertainment, you've got deeper problems then can be discussed here. :cof1:

Not quite sure the point you are trying to make. Where did I or have I ever stated or implied the troll DNC should be taken seriously? What I said was DNC posts only pro-Democratic Party stuff. Thus for him to come out so strongly behind Cronkite gives the impression of Democratic leanings. Was just a comment. Maybe you misunderstood what I wrote or maybe you hit the crack pipe early tonight.

Someone piss in your Cheerios, this morning??

I guess you read to the end of the sentence and missed the inclusion of ":cof1:", right after the "." (period).

yup he reported on how nixon was a criminal and he brought him down. thanks for pointing that out *shrug*
Nixon was never convicted, therefore to call him a criminal would represent bias. *shrug*

And that's the way is, 07/17/2009!

A Great Man, Indeed!

Get real.

You made an absolute statement: I simply proved you wrong. No need for you to get testy. *shrug*

Testy? I am laughing at your "proof". In fact, you cannot even prove that the anonymous poster on yahoo answers isn't you.

I forgot to add "credible"? I forgot to add "not ridiculous"?

I am not testy at all. I think it is funny as hell.

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2009/07/news_icon_walter_cronkite_dead.html

The statement by an anonymous poster on yahoo is not even close to proof.

It compared the treatment of Nixon to the treatment of Clinton. But, in case you missed it, Cronkite was retired when Clinton was elected president, so he was no part of that bullshit. There is no way to say he would have gone easier on Clinton.

This, from the same shit-fer-brains that blasts away at Rush, Hannity and others who don't hide behind the "unbiased reporter" ruse. *shrug*

They hide behind the moniker of "entertainer" instead of news reporter.

And they do not make any claim to being unbiased. They are strictly right wing.

Cronkite admitted being a liberal after he retired. His reporting of the news was straight.

If you wanted to make an accusation of biased reporting couldn't you have just done that yourself?

LOL - no way, Southern Man requires the telepathic wingnut nonsense to be sent to the receptor in his empty head, and then he posts it regardless of source. They could have told him anything and his response would be the anything. You should read his posts on the days when the weather is bad, and reception bad, the poor fool is lost.

You really have to spell it out for these guys. It was pretty clear that your statement gave the impression that Cronkite was universally respected by his peers and the public, but to Bush worshippers, you have to be more specific.

The sentence included the word "never", and therefore, to proclaim victory in his head, SouthernKlan found a post on yahoo answers to make himself feel better and to give him his "victory". *shrug*

Are you actually suggesting that Nixon was innocent?

He committed crimes against the US Constitution that make what you rant about Obama doing look like squeezing the toothpaste tube in the middle. And you want to call it biased to call Nixon a criminal?

You use an anonymous post on Yahoo Answers (anyone can post there) as proof that Cronkite was biased in his reporting, and want to claim Nixon wasn't a criminal??

He was not just a reporter. And he did just report the news and the facts. He was a man of great intergrity.

But he also did editorials. And they were always done as editorials. Those are the things they are talking about. His editorials were key in turning the country's opinion concerning Vietnam and in bringing Nixon down.

Yes, Walter clearly seperated his editorials from his news reporting.
Wish we still had that.

First may WC rest in peace. I never got a chance to watch Cronkite read the news but I have read about the man. As far as biases it is interesting that a pro-Dem troll like DNC comes out so strongly in his favor if he truly was just 'neutral'. And I've read those who strongly disagree with his reporting on the Tet offensive claiming what he reported was false and the subsequent negative impact it had on the war effort. In his post news career/life he did come out as a liberal and support many liberal causes. Again I didn't see him live on air so I'm not passing judgement as to whether he was biased there or not.
I was around back then and I know people and have members of my family who actually were serving in Vietnam during the Tet offensive. Cronkite's editorial on the Vietnam war was spot on. He was very much aware that Tet was a tactical disaster for the Viet Cong who virtually ceased to exist as an affective guerilla force after Tet. Tet was, as Cronkite pointed out, a strategic Victory for the North Vietnamese which underscored the truth that the war there was unwinable by any conventional millitary means or even non-conventional ones such as using nuclear weapons. The North Vietnamese and there proxy allies (The USSR and China) could match the US militarilly with escalation for escalation. That combined with the popular support the Vietnamese nationalist movement had with the native population and the utter ineptitude and corruption of the South Vietnamese government led Cronkite to the correct rational conclusion. That the Vietnam war was unwinable and history has vindicated him. Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is either uninformed or just plain wrong.
