The Rightist changes the subject (Whataboutism) to something related but not the topic at hand.
You respond to that then redirect the discussion back to the original topic.
The Rightist responds with ad hominem and insults.
You ignore their response and press them for a rational answer.
The Rightist gets even more insulting and won't answer you.

There are help wanted signs at nearly every business around here. Ads on TV and radio. One machine op job starts at over $26/hr.with matching 401lk and benefits from day one. They've been advertising for weeks. That's a decent wage for around here. People just don't wanna work. The pandemic shutdown made everyone fat and lazy. They all wanna work from their cell phones.

A trained machinist is one thing. Bottom rung wage jobs are the ones trying to hire. A cop trainee can go through the police academy, paid, and be done in 26 weeks.

The pandemic continues because of the unvaccinated.

Depends on who wins... If the Democrats somehow beat the odds and roll snake eyes six times in a row, it'll be called a mandate by the people and democracy in action with no hint of voter fraud. On the other hand, if the Republicans demolish the Democrats and take control of Congress, it will be proof of an insurrection and widespread voter fraud...

That job wasn't for a trained machinist. It was a machine operator job. There is a difference. I am a machinist.
Burger King starts at $12/hr. We had those jobs when we were in HS. Holy fuck, Arby's closes at 5:00 PM, most others at 6:00 to 8:00 PM. They used to be open to at least midnight. Waitress jobs all over, a friendly woman with efficient service is tipped well, we ain't cheap around here. Fucking people just don't want to work.

Plenty of people that can graduate from police academy in 26 weeks. Paid. Fire the anti-vax assholes and let them become truck drivers where they are less of a danger to the community.

It’s the $14/hr jobs that are having the most trouble. That’s because people discovered those jobs are bullshit jobs.

First, you have to have people eligible and willing to join the police.
Next, I doubt you can graduate upwards of 3,000 officers in one shot.
Then, those officers have zero experience on the job so any higher ranked police officers that were fired won't be replaced for months to years.
And, there's a six month gap between starting new officers and any being ready to work (by your estimate). That's six months of major shortage and likely massive crime.

Sounds to me like Lighthead screwed the pooch, along with Joke, on this one.

Six months with half force is very doable. Bring in National Guard to fill in any necessary gaps. Even to enforce a temporary curfew. No, you won’t graduate 3000 at a time. Reassign, reprioritize. Hire from the outside. Even temporarily. Meanwhile, you’re rid of the assholes who pose a danger to public safety
