yes...all Democrats are evil...fascinating
Republicans can be just as evil. I hold Richard Nixon up as the leading example of that.

As you can see, some presidents will use it to allow their thugs to commit crimes to do their dirty work.
At least change the law to state the president can not pardon someone he has a personal relationship with or can not benefit in the pardon in any way.
Trump has shown that people can break the law to help keep someone in power and not face prosecution.
The Presidential pardon could be very dangerous in the wrong hands.

Not without a Constitutional Amendment since the power is directly granted to the President in the Constitution.

The Constitution can be amended and has been in the past.
Actually, most pardons are deserved. It's the ones where politics and money come into play that are abused. Maybe a confirmation process like for many high federal offices should be in place. The President nominates someone for pardon, the Senate confirms it. Had that been the case, Marc Rich would still be hiding in Switzerland, as one example.

I agree it was bad

I disagree it was worse than pardoning your personal political operatives.
I am curious how someone can be in hiding if they are living openly? Can you explain that one?

We don't need an amendment--it would be too difficult to interpret all those conditions. It was meant to be a political act and should stay that way.

But clearly, the pardon power is mostly abused and without merit.
No. Marc Rich would still be dead. He died in Switzerland where he continued to live after his pardon.

Because Switzerland has no extradition laws with the US. That means Switzerland wouldn't deport him back to the US just because he was wanted there. So long as he didn't break Switzerland's laws he could live there in the open without concern that the US would nab him for a trial.
