CO? He won't say. IMO, he has some paranoia and other issues. For someone who seeks to interact on an anonymous online forum he rarely posts anything except preying on women and his conspiracy theorist nonsense. He needs to get out in the sunshine more often. Let all the UV kill the germs on his skin.

A little cyber espionage is one thing but taking down other country's power grids and killing hospital patients is an act of war.

I dont want to put too fine a line on it. The invasion is still gross over reaction; but it's not because Putin is trying to wrap himself into being the next Catherine the Great

It's almost like physics: every action has an opposite (if unequal) reaction

Annie told me what a subject matter expert he was with all things armor. started rattling off stats about Soviet hardware, like he was a professor at a war college

as someone who used to work for the now defunct US Army Armor Agency at Ft Knox I wasn't impressed with his rant

Dear Vlad unilaterally walked away from talks because it was all a ruse. He always intended to invade Ukraniane.

Even President Macron of France came to the conclusion Vlad was being duplicitous.

NATO is a peripheral issue, and a petty grievance. Putin has always felt provoked by loss of empire and by witnessing the transition of former vassal states in building free societies based on liberal democratic principles.

That's is what it is all about at it's core essence.

I think that Putin resorts to that once he realizes that all is lost. He's lost his mind.

He's already using cluster bombs in Ukraine. All accounts report that he's seething right now.

hardly. i pointed out the T-72 variation which you SHOULD have known with your background

I am a simple anti-war protestor from back during Vietnam days.
I learned you have to understand war weapons if you want to stop wars.
It's why i push diplomacy instead of aggressive expansionism as well

Lack of diplomacy on a scale of gross indifference to hostility to talks got us here

When Putin refers to NATO, it's his version of trump's 'It's a hoax. It's a witch hunt!'

He knows that nobody is buying it. It doesn't stop him from spewing it, though.

As we've discussed...that comes in the form of the oligarchs who have lost about 25% of their net worth in the last 24 hours.

I'm guessing there is a point where they take him down. I'm just not sure how that works?

do you mean todays talks? I havent kept the news on TV - i am still recovering from cataract surgery and to make a long story short it's not going well

It's easy NOW to hold talks . where were they when it counted?
I know of at least 3 letter sent to Biden that were rebuffed without any attempt to address NATO expansion
Or even the Black Sea shenaigans or bombers along their coast. These are very concrete concerns
not dream of Empire

If NATO expansion isn't a driving force here -why didnt we simply say nyet to Ukraine membership?
Germany and France would not have voted in Uk and Ukraine corruption was also a disqualifier

I get your idea on the Messianic Mission to reconstitute the USSR - perhaps
But I also see the realpolitik of a continent wide hostile alliance (who already broke their word)
as an exigent threat to Russia ( before the invasion)

IOW is Putin a rational actor or not?? I think he greatly miscalculated driven by fear of Ukraine
being a permanent hostile power -whatever his "vision"
