It's going to be a long hot summer. How many Global Warming converts will vote Democratic at the end of it?

Blackouts possible this summer due to heat and extreme weather, officials warn
By Tyler Mauldin, CNN | Posted - May 20, 2022 at 10:04 p.m.

Extreme temperatures and ongoing drought could cause the power grid to buckle across vast areas of the country this summer, potentially leading to electricity shortages and blackouts, a U.S. power grid regulator said on Thursday. (Frederic J. Brown, AFP,

ATLANTA — Extreme temperatures and ongoing drought could cause the power grid to buckle across vast areas of the country this summer, potentially leading to electricity shortages and blackouts, a U.S. power grid regulator said Wednesday.

NERC, a regulating authority that oversees the health of the nation's electrical infrastructure, says in its 2022 Summer Reliability Assessment that extreme temperatures and ongoing drought could cause the power grid to buckle. High temperatures, the agency warns, will cause the demand for electricity to rise. Meanwhile, drought conditions will lower the amount of power available to meet that demand.

"Industry prepares its equipment and operators for challenging summer conditions. Persistent, extreme drought and its accompanying weather patterns, however, are out of the ordinary and tend to create extra stresses on electricity supply and demand," said Mark Olson, NERC's manager of Reliability Assessments.

On Thursday, NOAA's Climate Prediction Center called for nearly the entire contiguous United States to experience above average temperatures this summer.

The power grid is extremely delicate and electricity supply must always meet electricity demand, experts warn. If not, capacity shortfalls can occur. A shortfall is when there is not enough power being generated to meet demand.

Forced power outages, also known as rolling blackouts, are initiated during these situations — which is what millions of Americans run the risk of seeing this summer — to prevent long term damage to the grid.

It’s going to be hot with a chance of blackouts

After millions of Americans went without power due to cold, heat, wildfires and hurricanes last year, we wrote here about the need to pay attention to the power grid.

This year, blackouts will probably be back
CNN’s Tyler Mauldin, a meteorologist, wrote this week about a stark warning from NERC, the regulating authority that oversees the health of the nation’s electrical infrastructure.

In a reliability assessment for the coming summer, NERC predicted that excessive temperatures and ongoing drought could cause the power grid to buckle.

The high temperatures will increase demand for electricity.

Meanwhile, drought conditions will reduce the amount of power available.

Bottom line: The US power grid does not react well to extreme temperatures, either cold or heat, but more extreme temperatures are guaranteed because of the climate crisis.

We are not to mention that the grid needs something like $2 trillion in investment, and that we dont have enough electric production capacity, nor that there is a big push for intermittent energy production.

Its global warmings fault, because it cant be our leaders fault.

Let's fill the country with a couple million illegal aliens to provide energy and gasoline for. That is a great idea!!!

Gee, it's like this problem was suddenly discovered after January 20th, 2021. :rofl2:

It's both our leader's fault and global warming's fault, meaning all mankind's fault. Anyone who looks at it intelligently knows that something like this can take years to fuck up and unfuck. It's not one of my areas of expertise so I use NASA, the same people putting us on the Moon, back on the Moon and throughout the solar system.

OTOH, I don't listen to insane people afraid of dying on the Internet...except to study them.

In Brief:
Direct observations made on and above Earth’s surface show the planet’s climate is significantly changing. Human activities are the primary driver of those changes.

Tell the people who are the problem; the corporations and large businesses AKA Large Political Donors who maintain the problem against the best interests of We, the People.

Follow the money.

I can't think of a single thing

So I have to wonder how much of what is going on is driven by China, who is on a mission to make America the premier shit-hole country in all the world. Very poorly educated self loathing lusting after UTOPIA American elites are easy to manipulate.

Same for Russia. The thing is, neither China or Russia can make us do anything We, the People don't want to do. Same for Israel despite all the freedom haters, anti-Semites, Pedo Nazis and WSEs. We elect our own leaders and make our own choices.

Anyone who believes their life is driven by others is living with a Victim Mentality. They are losers. Let them rot.

This energy transition is just like everything else the Elite Class attempts being fucked up.

Intentionally or not I dont know yet.

This is going to hurt.

Do you live in the part of Texas that is tapped into the natl. grid?

Crypto is the worst thing to happen to our power grid.

Beyond my area of expertise. The idea is interesting, but young. It was always a gamble.

I'm more boring; the dollar cost average guy. Work hard in a job you love with a sound savings plan and the ability to resist fashion, commercials or people pushing me to "keep up with the Jones".

I'm not rich, but I'm protected for life if the financial system holds together (a good bet IMHO) and a Plan B which involves a lot of revenge. LOL
