1 Million + Protesters In DC

She should know this having lived in Alaska. I doubt you can even see it from Bethel! It gets foggy!
You got to fly around Denali!!!! I am jealous, I have never done that and I have lived here forever!

I have flown around the top of McKinley in a twin engine plane... you most certainly can NOT see Russia from there. Just so you know, it has to be at least 4-500 miles to the west coast of AK from where McKinley is. Russia has to be another 75 miles or so from there. No way is anyone's eyesight that good.

I never said you could see it from there, I was asking if he knew anything about Alaska..but carry on..

yeah, it was part of our guys trip up to Denali. We took the train up from Anchorage, dropped off in Talkeetna for the plane trip. Then jumped the train the next day on up into the Park. The magnitude of the park makes it one of my favorites. I put it behind the Grand Canyon and Yosemite, ahead of Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons and Acadia.

"and for seeing Russia from there, until you go there and find out different I'll take your criticism on it as total bullshit.."

I was responding to the above quote from you.

Which shows us what?

1) that the pictures were not shot from the same location

2) That it appears to be the opposite sides of the capital

3) that the million man march was more heavily attended (it has the deeper shot and the street is more crowded)

From what I have seen I would say this protest topped out around 100k at most (the estimate of 75k is probably pretty accurate)

While it certainly isn't a million as suggested, it is substantially larger than any in the past (of its kind). The fact that it is growing lends to Damo's earlier point... this is growing, not diminishing. People are finally getting fed up with the idiots in DC.

I think the second shot is of Pennsylvania Avenue looking towards the Capital. That would mean that it is an overflow from the Mall.

Here is something interesting.

The foreign press estimates are a bit higher than the US press estimates...

A million march to US Capitol to protest against 'Obama the socialist'

As many as one million people flooded into Washington for a massive rally organised by conservatives claiming that President Obama is driving America towards socialism.

The size of the crowd - by far the biggest protest since the president took office in January - shocked the White House.

Demonstrators massed outside Capitol Hill after marching down Pennsylvania Avenue waving placards and chanting 'Enough, enough'.

The focus of much of the anger was the president's so-called 'Obamacare' plan to overhaul the U.S. health system.

Demonstrators waved U.S. flags and held signs reading 'Go Green Recycle Congress' and 'I'm Not Your ATM'.'

The protest on Saturday came as Mr Obama took his campaign for health reforms on the road, making his argument to a rally of 15,000 supporters in Minneapolis.

Saying he was determined to push through a bill making health insurance more affordable, Mr Obama said: 'I intend to be president for a while and once this bill passes, I own it.

Must be the long-reaching arm of the dwindling Republican/Conservative Party at work again...

Several of my friends went to the grand event and they said people were packed in there like sardines. According to them, it was a huge success and they are ready for more.

Drudge does not even seem to have anything about this on his board. One has to wonder why?

Hee-hee-hee.. It never takes long for a dyed-in-the-wool Liberal to fess up to getting his real news from the right.

I, for one, am glad to see you are taking breath mints for your potty mouth, as your new personalized avatar demonstrates. Does the blue suggest it's a minty-flavored variety?

That's hilarious. Notice anything missing from the body of the story? Like a source for the 1 million figure? Keep up the good word, Damo.

I'm guessing the folks at the Daily Mail and their rigorous fact-checkers used Palin rules. It looked like a million from London.

From your second link Taichi:

In December 2004, FreedomWorks employee Sandra Jacques was introduced at a White House economic conference as a "single mom" from Iowa who supported the Bush administration's Social Security privatization plan. According to White House budget director, Jacques was was an example of how Bush promotes his agenda with testimonials from "regular folks." As the New York Times pointed out, however, "Ms. Jaques is not any random single mother. She is the Iowa state director of a conservative advocacy group." [5]

The Times also noted that Jacques "spent much of the past two years as a spokeswoman in Iowa for a group called For Our Grandchildren, which is mounting a nationwide campaign for private savings accounts."

Why don't you put down the mirror and pay attention to what you read. If you can't comprehend, let me dumb it down for you, you PostModernFool (or are you now referring to yourself in the 3rd person as the "liberal whisperer". See that psychiatrist soon, man.):

This woman was an active part of the GOP political party machine, not just some average schmoe who happened to vote conservative.

In other words, Freedomworks misrepresented her....typical modus operandi
of smoke & mirrors by the neocon foghorn's.
