I equate this to hand wringing over those who were left in Afghanistan after they were given months to evacuate before the U.S pulled out. They opted to stay for monetary purposes, and ended up in a bad situation.

Griner did break Russian law, just as Otto Warmbier broke North Korean law, but their punishments do not fit the crimes which were minor offenses, especially Warmbier‘s. This is the kind of punishment countries with despotic rulers dispense.

My hope is that Griner stays healthy, both mentally and physically.
