Why are Americans shooting strangers and neighbors? ‘It all goes back to fear.’

Across the country this month, at least four men have opened fire on someone who’d stumbled upon their space, resulting in one death, two injuries and a car pocked with bullet holes. The apparent acts of snap-aggression have reinvigorated the debate around the prevalence of “stand your ground” laws in the United States and a pressing question: Why are people so quick to pull the trigger on strangers?

Lack of mental health care. All the mass shootings are by nutjobs.

Trigger happy!

Native American America! So you were against illegal immigrants a minute ago, now you support them???
Make up your fucking mind!

You are making ZERO sense. There were lots of tribes in America. Most had rivals they regularly fought wars with. Most of America, particularly North America had no established political boundaries, even loose ones. Are you trying to tell me, for example, that those settlers who arrived at Jamestown, on land that wasn't claimed by any particular tribe, and the nearest ones, the Powhatan, who didn't see those settlers as being on their land, somehow thought they were there "illegally?"

Yes, they were invaders. Brought an army to kill them.

Of course they were illegal!

They were not born on the continent. Pretty basic definition.

So? Immigration isn't about what "continent" you were born on but rather what country. Or are you telling me that someone in France can simply go to Germany, or Belgium, and declare they're now a German or a Belgian since all those countries are on the same fucking continent?
