I'm Holding A Demonstration

Capin' you have a choice to smoke elsewhere, the people who cant take your smoke should not be forced to breath elsewhere.

Breathing is not a choice , smoking is.

It's bigger than smokers choice, it's the OWNERS choice. There are already places that do not allow smoking, so non smokers who are overly worried about their health can go their and not force their ideas on property owners.

There are laws that you have to have bathrooms and keep certain areas sanitary and they are perfectly legal right?

This is business that allows the public to walk in off the street.

They need to provide a certain level of health protection already by law.

The community at large has made this another one of those protections.

Its called democracy.

Smoke does not stay in one place. It is not all your air ,that air also belongs to the people who have as much right to be in public as you do. Smoke is unhealthy and to some people with lung, throat, sinus and other conditions it is painful.

We wouldnt let you stand in a of a building and burn any other substance simply because you LIKE it now would we?

Man up smokers and take the responsibility for your own habit and realize others should NOT be forced to deal with the negative output of your dumber that shit passwtime.

Stupid bitch.

We'll just have to throw you in jail Capt. No big deal.

Good luck with that, it wouldn't be my first time.

And WM, you're an idiot. On the one hand you claim that the means of production and owners should be the ones in charge, and on the other hand you say that they shouldn't have any say in the matter.

Desh, those are entirely different than anti-smoking laws because it dictates towards certain behaviors. Everyone who doesn't have a colostomy bag used the bath room. There are already plenty of places that do not allow smoking, so non-smokers who are overly worried about it, can easily go there. But where are smokers to go?

Or they could switch to dipping. I think I should add that to my protest.

A few tips I found from Fark.com for you.....

Lesson 1: Don't shower or bathe for 3 weeks before the protest. But be careful not to look like a homeless person. Then you'll just be ignored.

Lesson 2: Learn to avoid getting hit in the head with a nightstick. Those things HURT!

Lesson 3: Get loud, obnoxious, and toss a rock through the window of Starbucks.

Lesson 4: Chant every once in a while, "All we are saaaaaaying, is give peace a chance."

Go away.

Since my state (MI) has decided to ban smoking in all 'public' buildings, I'm going to hold a smoke out. Similar to a sit-in, I am going to gather people up, and have them sit/stand outside a government building, and light the fuck up. I may not smoke, but I'm sick and tired of this stupidity.

Anyways the point is I've never organized such a thing before, and am wondering if anyone has any advice. And ridicule, I need more of that, since I know it's coming anyways.

my advice is to quit smoking.

The banning of smoking in public buildings is a good thing. The rest of us should not be subjected to smelling that unbelievably awful stench. Thanks in advance for quitting.

:good4u:

then enjoy the outdoor smoking opportunities... get a breath of fresh air prior to lighting up...

You seem to forget that I don't smoke, never have (or I forgot to mention it). But that's not going to stop me from fighting for other people rights, because otherwise one day there might not be anyone left to fight for anything.

You forgot Lesson 5: Practice saying "DON"T TASE ME BRO" in a loud and commanding voice.

No one is taking away their right to smoke. They are just restricting where they can smoke as their smoking causes harm to those around them. It is the same with driving. I cannot drive through your yard or home or a public park simply because it is more convenient for me. I have to stick to the streets.

You can, however, legally eat a cheeseburger while holding a drink and trying to read a map on the next seat while you are driving, even though that endangers any passengers, while states newest laws forbid smoking in your vehicle if children are present in the vehicle....

This is exactly like helmet laws. You are not harmed by seeing smokers outside, no study suggests that walking by smokers who are outside smoking does you any harm at all. You are inconvenienced because you dislike their habit, but you remain unharmed. Attempting to make it illegal to smoke outside on any public campus whatsoever is just another attempt at a helmet law. It doesn't protect you from harm from the scary cigarette, it solely makes life more comfortable to you.
