Being against freedom for Gays to marry.... is achually being for freedom to those who are against it....

So wanting to limit freedom of a group is giving more freedom to a group that does not even want that freedom.

So if I were against allowing brown eyed people from marrying blue eyed people, those polititians who supported my campaign would be on the side of more personal freedom for Americans?

So if I were pro-slavery, but only the slavery of White Women, I'd be supporting freedom for those who want to perserve the institution of enslavement of those of African blood?
 
I am starting how conservatism works, its not about freedom, its about how you can justify less freedom while calling it more freedom...!

I agree they are wrong on the Gay Marriage issue, but they support Civil Unions which is a half step better.

They also are not making it a wedge issue to try to stir up there base, little consulation but a shade better.

Gays are perfectly able to be queer. We are being marriage enablers! Get the terminology right.

And actually, quite a few of us marriage enablers want to remove all government involvement in marriage. We want the government to be limited rather than expanded.

You want the gov't to protect your beliefs. You want the gov't to solve your problems. You want the gov't to protect your idea of marriage and to interfere in people's lives.

Not to change the subject but I've always wondered about the Conservative/Right Wing thinking when it comes to families and society.

The traditions of family, supporting the values regarding helping each other and working together is what the Conservative/Right Wing have always championed. However, when it comes to others, other families, other people, society in general, their attitude is "to hell with them".

If the idea of family working together and looking out for each other is a basic building block of society then why do they not support expanding that idea in society?

Social programs similar to how a family would function. Medical plans. Welfare plans. Daycare. Why would they not support the very ways under which families operate knowing the benefits derived?
