Marriott's and HIltons are not discount hotels. Most, if not all, offer Valet parking services.
If a 'working person' who buys an EV does not want to wait to get a charger himself, if they are in use, he can use some of the money he saved on gasoline to tip the valet to do it for him.
What he cannot do is enjoy the mass savings from gasoline and complain about having to wait to charge, because he is a 'working person' who does not want to tip the valet.
That would be the type of entitled asinine thinking that comes from the right and not left.
Wait your turn for a charger and keep all your savings in your pocket.... or go about your day and let the valet do it and tip him.

Pickups rarely have any use in condo's in busy downtowns. They often cannot fit in parkades.
Does that mean that no one should have a pick up truck? Of course not.

For the vast, vast majority of city/work/errand commuters the EV is a perfect car or second car.
You keep chiming in with 'but ya there are not many charging stations in XYZ' does not change the facts of what i said.

Joey wet panties forgets that those ranges as listed need to be cut by 10-30% based on the weather conditions. I love the stories about the woke urbans that take their EV to a vacation spot only to find there is MAYBE one charger available and god forbid there is more than one EV in the area.
This morning breakfast with a buddy that is a Tesla lover and he experienced exactly what I was describing. The rest of today he is researching portable battery banks that will give hin a precious few additional miles.

I've had an electric car for years.
Sort of. It's a Plug In Hybrid, Hyundai Ionic. I can run it electric most of the time, and I have gas when I need it. Pure electric makes no sense to me. Plug In's are the best of both worlds. I can always run gas when I need to.

And you are wrong. Many city dwellers with EV's do have mass savings on gasoline costs. They charge at work and at their condo where they do not pay any additional cost, and that is 99% of their driving. No energy or gas expendituires.

I was recently reading an argument that going straight to pure EV is not only a mistake but a obvious mistake, that our overlords should be mandating hybrids instead. What is being done goes under the label of hubris, how civilizations generally die.Somehow those who yearn for UTOPIA got it in their heads that UTOPIA is all electric....I dont fully understand why they did.
It's California friendly. I have solar on the roof. SCE put the charging port in my garage - charging taxpayers for it. I paid $34,000 new for it - taxpayers picked up the other $40,000. I've never used a public charging station. This is a 2018 and not compatible with the Tesla fast charging, so I would be nervous to plug it in to anything but the home port anyway. Yorba Linda has sunshine 300 days a year. If I were in Minnesota, it would be a far different story. The coldest it gets here is 20° - if I were in Montana where it drops to 30 below, the car would have issues. Most of the time we are between 60 and 90. Perfect conditions for battery power.
Electric, even plug ins, are designed from mild climates.
There are at least two reasons why UTOPIA is all electric. The first is the idea that once we bite the bullet and convert everything to electric changing the energy source as tech creates new and better ways to generate is relatively easy. This assumes that the grid is robust but here too that is a one time charge. The other reason is that we now have the ability to create an electric system where the overlords can monitor everyone's usage, both how much we use and what we use it for, in real time. This allows for constant policing of the little people, and there will always be the threat that our power will be rationed or shut off if we use more than we are allowed or if we come into disfavor with the overlords. Jordan Peterson was just talking about this the other day on X as I recall. In order to consume power we will need approved by the overlords active digital currency + a high enough social credit score + Carbon points.....lack enough of any of the three and it will be no power for you.
The plan is 15 minute cities where most people are not allowed to have cars....you might be able to call a car if the bosses approve of what you want it for, and if you have enough of all the required points.
