They have been run out of the party by the social conservatives and the religious right.
 
In recent days -- during a meeting with House Republicans in Maryland and in town hall forums in Florida and New Hampshire -- Obama has repeatedly offered to work with GOP leaders. At the same time, he has been ratcheting up his own partisan rhetoric.

Wow - a media outlet is actually trying to add drama to a claim they're making? That's pretty shocking; they should realize that "what sells" is downplaying what actually is said - that's their usual m.o.

If we really want to start claissifying "they have to stop being the party of no" as a "partisan attack," we really need to have tiers for that term. I'd put it on the level of "tickle fight."

You have to learn what a SERIOUS alternative initiative is, and what a token initiative that never has a prayer of passing but you can say "we have an alternative" is. They have never made even a half-hearted effort to meet halfway or go for something viable, and they are much quicker to threaten filibuster than the Dems ever were.
