$36 Trillion in debt needs to be fixed. White nazi lib boomers want to just keep stealing from children.
Nice idea, but it's too late already. The US government is broke.
Just servicing the debt (not paying down the principle or anything!), costs more than the entire US military budget. It won't be long before it's greater than the entire set of Social Security payments.
The total revenue (all taxes and fees) was about $5 trillion. The total expenditures is about $7 trillion.
There are three ways to raise the money:
Tax it. Not enough. It will only cause a tax revolt. You would have to seize all the private land, privately owned mineral reserves, and actually have the gold in Fort Knox (which is questionable).
Borrow it. This just increases the debt. You can't borrow your way to financial freedom.
Print it. This is the current 'solution' the federal government is trying. Printing money without a corresponding increase in wealth being created due to capitalism is the direct and only cause of inflation. Unfortunately, with inflation comes higher prices for the government trying to print it's way out of it's problems.
Since the year 2000, the dollars floating around due to printing has QUINTUPLED. There has been no such corresponding increase in wealth due to capitalism. Hence, inflation.
What Trump is doing with DOGE is great, but again, it's not enough. The biggest benefit of DOGE is to pinpoint where fraud and abuse is taking place, and prosecuting those responsible (which is already starting to happen).
But it won't erase or even significantly touch the debt.

It's a myth that a $36 trillion debt CAN be fixed. People always talk about it like that.
It's mathematically impossible. Unless we stop spending virtually all money, for a century.
In a certain sense, Barfly happens to be right here, although a century is not required. Just seven years.
Of course, with NO spending from the federal government, it effectively will have collapsed completely, and people will simply stop paying taxes to it, since no services are being rendered at all. That that point, the federal government will have effectively ceased to exist.
Trump is attempting austerity, but it won't be enough. One way or the other, the federal government must eventually collapse. I hate to say it, but it's already too late.
