Really? Let's do a blind taste test then. Let's plop that picture of Fiddy in front of some white bubba from Greensburg, Indiana and ask him "Is this the picture of a true American Patriot or of some ghetto gangster?"
I gotta sneaky hunch who's going to win this Pepsi Challenge!
Clearly if you showed that photo, they would say Gansta... cause the photo says .... gansta... pretty friggin obvious.
Smart ass comments aside, the author does bring up some valid points. If a large group of black people armed themselves and held a rally, not knowing any other details, the knee jerk reaction would be 'oh shit, a bunch of blacks with guns... this can't be good'.
If the video of the event stated ahead of time that it was a 2nd Amendment protest rally, rationale people would not have a problem with it. The moronic white supremacists would go ape shit regardless of the reason of a group of black people getting together.
That said, the author also goes overboard with some of his analogies. He seems to imply that the anger shown towards Obama and Congress is somehow linked to race. That is pure ignorance. This is about the insane spending and ever rising debt. Yes, most of those getting 'angry' now and protesting did little during Bush's insane spending. But for most paying attention, Obama ramped up the deficit spending to UNPRECEDENTED levels. (yes, tossing that word back in Obama's face)
Part of it was necessary given the debacle unleashed by Clinton when he repealed Glass Steagall with the majority of both parties in support of such a move. Bush in turn did nothing to stem the problem, nor did the Rep led Congress up until 2007. Neither did the Dem led Congress from 2007 until now.
As for the rest of the vitriol the author cites, yes, there are extreme morons on the right. We know this. Just as we know there are many extreme morons on the left. We don't have to look to far into the past to see the vitriol from the left. Olberman.... Scott Brown... enough said.
That said, for the silent majority... we need to start calling out the extremists, just as this author did. We need to file complaints and launch protests against such vitriol. Rather than simply ignore the idiots, as I admit I have done in the past. Rather than ignoring the Limbaughs, Malkins, Olbermanns etc... we need to raise our voices against them, as their hatred is doing nothing but harm.
