I am reminded of Andrei Martyanov saying often that the only thing the American Generals know about war is what they have seen in the movies, which is generally not realistic....what Andrei is saying is that they are sure they know what they are doing, but they dont.....at all.

I think the game is to keep giving Trump rope and let him hang himself and MAGA. This counter revolution was always very iffy, I never had much hope that Trump/MAGA would save us.....but I have even less hope now than I did a few months ago.
